Can anybody give me any good advice and/or info on the DeSoto wetsuits?  I have been researching and researching them and think that I like these ones the best.  I used a 2XU for my last triathlon and it was ok but would like more opinions on all different types.

I have one and love it.

They are made well, customer service is top notch and they fit very well.

Don't regret the purchase at all. You can't go wrong with one of their products.

Heisen, I bought the Speed Tube (bottoms) to use in the Chicago Tri this year.  Excellent product, quality construction, and I've seen Emilio De Soto on here a couple of times answering questions that come up.

If it's what you want/need and fits in your budget, do it - you won't regret it.

The T1 is, bar none, the best wetsuit I've ever tried on. The 2pc design is just amazing. I had A TON of trouble with "normal" wetsuits after my collarbone surgery, but I've got through some 2+ hour swims in the T1 and love it. It doesn't hurt that Emilio is ever-patient answering question after question.

I  really love the two piece as well.  The one piece's I've used previously and tried on when I bought mine just felt really restricting and I felt trapped in them, but the two piece is just really comfortable and easy for me, I won't be going back to a onesy as long as two is an option

I own one, and love it. Best wetsuit in the business, and best customer service.

They wont even sell you one until you confirm all of your sizes and they make sure you are buying the right size. Then , they still offer 14 days to return it if it aint right.

Great company, great product. I cant say enough good about Emilio and his business.

I think I've decided on the desoto t1 as well.  I have two questions.  Other one piece wetsuits are gender specific.  I've borrowed my husband's slightly ill-fitting wetsuit and can see where I would need something more fitted .  Is this an issue with the T1?
Second question: recommendations on where to purchase?  Get 15% off for BTers at TriSports but any other suggestions?

It seems that there are far too many great reviews for this suit.  Does anybody have anything negative to say?  I emailed DeSoto yesterday and he got right back to me so he definitely has me sold on customer service already.  I am getting closer and closer to getting one.  Is the $50 I would save by going through an internet sale worth it or should I just continue to go straight to the top and deal with the DeSoto company?  He said there aren't any retailers for DeSoto in my neck of the woods (Minnesota) so I would have to order it.

I think you will be hard pressed to find anyone who has anything negative to say about any DeSoto product.

I bought mine from Trisports, but when I tore a seam (my fault) I went straight to Desoto for help. I fully expected to pay for the repair, but they treated me like I bought it directly from them. They told me to send it in. They not only repaired it for free, they paid the shipping to return it me. Then they called to check if it had been repaired it to my satisfaction, which it had. I could not even tell where it was repaired it was done so well. That is what I call GOOD customer service.

I love the 2 piece suit concept I have a larger upper body, compared to my lower half. I got a size larger top so it fits me real well. It feels great in the water and is easy to remove. It is not that bad to get on compared to first wetsuit I bought.

You can't go wrong either way. It is not cheap, but it is worth the extra in my opinion.

Well, thanks to all the good press you guys are giving them, I am 98% sure that I am going to buy the T1.  Now, the question is which one.  I am leaning towards the Black Pearl, mostly due to cost.  And when I hear back from Mr. DeSoto, I am going to tell him that he has received nothing but great reviews on Begineertriathlete.com.

Thank you all for the input.  I appreciate it all.  Wink

I realize this is an old post - but I have just received my new T1 first wetsuit. I am having a tough time deciding if I should go up a size on the top. I am 5ft 11ins - 39 ins chest - 34 ins waist - 180lbs and got a size 5 bottoms - size 4 top. What is your weight etc and what size did you order. Thank you

Don't want to hijack the thread, but can you say a bit more about the trouble with a "normal" wetsuit after collarbone surgery? I busted my collarbone last fall, and while I didn't need surgery, I've been wondering how it would feel to get a wetsuit on again.

Thanks,

Love my T1, especially when the water is warm enough to swim without one, but still wetsuit legal. For those races I wear only the bottoms which gives me good body position and I only have to deal with the bottoms in T1. When I wear both pieces you just unzip the top and can pull it off from the bottom (like a sweater). With the full suits you have to pull one arm out before the other and I think this might be a challenge with those who are recovering from shoulder or collar bone injuries.

The two piece suit allows the wearer multiple options in choosing what to wear for the conditions. Use of the speed bottoms makes removal quick.
