Who's in for this year? I think they changed the run course because the park construction is finally done.

Looking forward to it!

I'm looking forward to it, also. Looks like the ocean will calm down a little. Been a bit gnarly lately!

Will be the first year I miss it after doing last 3 years.    Just landed on bad date for me which is too bad as it is about 5 miles from my house.     Good luck to all participating and yes, hope the ocean cooporates.  That run has always been short so maybe they fix it this year as well.

I'm not racing because I didn't register before 8/26 so the tariff is $80.  Ouch.  These sprints are getting expensive.  I'll volunteer instead.

And yes it will be pretty rough for that swim, but that's half the fun.

Ha!

Just picked up my packet. No starting times at all. The bike number plate is goofy too. Any way you attach it will make the number unreadable.

I saw a list of wave starting order, but no info at all on starting times! Race packet has a map of the course and some drafting rules, that's it.

LW Chamber website: no times.

Registration website says 7am.  Is that supposed to be the first wave start?

Thanks if anybody has any clues!

Dean

I think I saw a note on the packet pick- up table that transition opens at 5:30 and the first wave (18-44 red caps) goes at 0700 and each wave 5 minutes after that.

Good Luck!

Well, I had a good time and the weather cooperated beautifully. Congrats to everyone who participated!

Does anyone know where we can look up the results?
I know my overall time but can't seem to find the swim time, etc anywhere.

I agree that the weather was great and had a good race as well. Congrats to all who participated and thanks to all the volunteers!!

I was curious about the official results though, I time myself when I race, and my time was over 4 minutes faster than the time shown on the official results. I did not have a penalty, and I am just wondering if I am missing something or if anybody else timed themselves too? Thanks!

My Garmin had me exactly 1 minute faster that the official split for the swim and and 2:16 faster than the official bike split. It also had the bike distance at 12.53, not 11 as advertised.

Rarely ever do I get exact same splits but consider that if everyone should have gotten the same disadvantage, then, it isn't an advantage.  If that's not your point... which I know it isn't, then, per USAT rules you have (I think) 12 hrs to bring your dispute to the race marshall.  Pls confirm with your Rules handbook.

Nonetheless, always take your concerns to the RD as well, and tell everyone who feels the same way, to do the same.  It is the organizer's duty to correct all these minor faults.  You should get your money's worth - all of it.

I will add that this yr. Altavista is no longer running a bunch of the local races they did in the past, they seemed a bit disorganized to me.  I didn't participate at the Tropical Triathlon.

Really not complaining about a disadvantage and I do understand that my splits will be different from the official splits. Just that it seems odd that with the technology that is available there should be a 1.5 mile difference between the distance advertised for the race and the distance measured on a participants GPS. I certainly couldn't care less what the distance is because, as you said, everyone is doing the same course. I really enjoyed getting out and competing in a beautiful setting, and that's what it is all about for me.Cool

this bike course is long. they should advertise it as 12. most people i know had 12.3 /12.4 on their bike computer.

bike course - long; run course - short (they should list it as 3)

most of the locals know that. also, if you look at prior years results you'd think it odd that the winners were so slow on the bike (when really - they weren't, just the course was long)

it's a nice local race / small venue though.

Dang.
I hoped this year they would fix the run distance. Well, there goes my 5K PR.Yell I knew the bike was longer though.
