Overall Rank = 16/400
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 5/56
Pre-race routine:

We got there a little early to get a good spot in transition, it does make a difference at this venue. Please not my split times are not exact as they don't offer chip timing at this race only a finish time (but they are very close:)
Event warmup:

Did some stretching and running about 15 min. Then about 10 min of swimming, first some warm up then some at race speed.
Swim
  • 11m 53s
  • 766 yards
  • 01m 33s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was starting up front today. The last two races I had to pass a lot of people and this takes extra energy to navigate around them. Also note almost no bumping hitting or kicking today. Good age group gooood age group.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. My pace looks a little slow but I felt fast and never fatigued. Perhaps the course was a little longer than stated.
Transition 1
  • 00m 46s
Comments:

All went well here. I cut two inches off the bottom of my wetsuit so it does not hang up on my heels. Step over mount, small steep hill at the beginning
What would you do differently?:

nothing perfect T1
Bike
  • 43m 28s
  • 18 miles
  • 24.85 mile/hr
Comments:

Today was the first day with my new aero helmet. It is much more quiet with this one as it covers the ears. I never got passed. Not because of the helmet. Noticed a cramp in my side about half way into the ride, decided to cut back on fluid. It was gone in about 15 min.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I couldn't push any harder. Bike was perfect, dig my new helmet
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

again very fast T2. Helmet off, shoes on grab race # belt and go.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing perfect T2
Run
  • 27m 37s
  • 4 miles
  • 06m 54s  min/mile
Comments:

Skipped water for almost the whole run, I did not need the cramp coming back. Grabbed one cup at mile two. I had no idea where I was as far as place because of the wave starts in front of me but I never got passed on the run. I was running well felt strong and never fatigued. Looked back once with about a mile to go and once with about 750 yds to go. There was one guy about 75 yds behind me who was not there last time I looked back I was not going to let this guy catch me so I stepped it up and finished with my arms in the air.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. My speed runs on Wednesday's have paid off big time
Post race
Warm down:

The usual, water, fruit, Waited around for the results. I thought I had a shot at a podium spot, turns out I was 5Th in my AG and missed it by 1:20. I bettered my Time from last year by 9 minutes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I went into this race looking to truly give 100% to push hard in all 3 disciplines and to hit both transitions perfectly. I believe I accomplished this today.

Event comments:

This is my last Triathlon of 2010. Thank you all for your support. Thank you Dave for sacrificing a Sunday morning glad you could make it. Thank you Gina for sacrificing many Sunday mornings and countless other things so I can pursue this crazy sport. Your the best. I love you. I have been very fortunate this year. No injuries, no major F.U.'s. I have learned so much about this sport in the last two years. I am looking for BIG things next year. By the way I will be running my first marathon Oct 31 at the Silicone Valley International.

I lov you very much
