Vitamin_B - 2010-09-24 4:26 PM Since we're on the topic, has anybody tried Cat Crap?  http://www.google.com/search?q=cat+crap

I ran across it online, and have been thinking of ordering some.

That is hilarious.  For $6 bucks, I have to try.  I will report back.

Hydro - 2010-09-22 9:55 PM I've been using Sable goggles this season, and though they are not cheap, they have been 100% worth it.

Among other great things about Sables, still zero fogging issues after 7+ months of steady use.

I picked this trick up from an old thread on ST - for my pool goggles, I squirt the gym shower soap in each socket and just let it sit while I shower post-swim.  When I'm done, then rinse 'em off good - but never touch the inside of the sockets - and then let them air dry the rest of the day.

So far, that's been working like a champ - no spit, and no special cleaners or defoggers.

Cheers, Chris

After trying many brands/models and methods (spit, soap, antifog spray, water droplets, nothing,  wearing contacts, not wearing contacts etc, etc), I too purchased Sables.  Well...they fogged within 5 minutes of getting into the water and now they often fog immediately, before I even have a chance to get from the deck into the water.  I am convinced there is something about my body temperature, eye moisture, etc that causes fogging and no product nor method will eliminate it.  I like the HTFU thought!  Good luck.   I totally understand how frustrating this can be.

Go to a SCUBA diving shop and ask them what they recommend.  When I dive, I use a product named "Spit" or "Sea Drops".  Both work very well, but there are many others.

I have found the one solution that always works for me is to use dish soap, rinse and lightly dry.  Then apply anti-fog and just let it dry in there.

I'm willing to try to drops of water in the sockets, but the majority of swimming is in the ocean. I also wear contacts so i'm sure the salt water will burn. I should buy a 2nd pair of goggles, and only use them for races

I wouldn't do that, you don't want to find out 50 meters down the course that your race-only goggles are poorly adjusted or don't fit right or....

Nothing new on race day.  I wouldn't race in goggles that I hadn't done at least a couple of training swims in first.

I'm fully aware of not doing anything new on race day. Found out the hard way. ( think muscle milk, right before a half marathon)

I would buy the same ones i use now, use them a few times, and then only use them for races.

I put a drop or two of dishwashing liquid in each cup, inside and outside. (the outside is just to clean them, not fog).  Add a little water and swish it around, then let them dry on the kitchen counter.  When I get to the swim I rinse them out really well in the water before putting them on.  Works great for me.

You can also put them in a zip lock bag and they stay moist for 6-10 more uses.
