So this is going to be my first HIM. I have done a few smaller races, where T1 and T2 are in the same location. Never with them split as in this race. As I am very structured on my transition setup, this make me a little nervous, any words on how they are set up at ATX?

As for hotels there are several that are located within 15 miles from the venue that have some great rates out there. Hotels are my business so I watch them in all areas. looks like the best bets if you don't mind a little drive are going to be in downtown at the Hilton Properties. Also the Aloft at the Domain is showing some nice rates as well.

My bad.  I was supposed to look into that for you.  I'll ask around and get you an answer by next week.  Sorry for the delay.   The problem is, the course is in the middle of nowhere.  So not a lot to choose from, and nothing without vehicle support.

Cube - I forgot to ask:  Are you just coming in solely for the tri?  Or are you wanting to see Austin and bring your family?   Money a consideration?

This will be my 3rd M-Dot race of the summer, after Muncie 70.3 in July and IM Louisville in late Aug. Hoping I'll be on fire for this one after a month off in sept to recover and train.
Liking what the NEW coach has me doing and starting to see results already.

Considering signing up for this one.  With NOLA's no swim I would like a complete HIM for 2011.

Okay, signed up for this and will be my A race after the NOLA no swim event.

One question, I am really looking at shaving as much time as possible.  Looking at renting a Zip for the front (will get a wheelcover from Wheelbuilder for the back).  Any recommendations (404s, 808's or 1080 clincher)?  Don't know the course or Zips for that matter.

1080 or 808 are probably best.  I'll be running with a Stinger 9 & a disc most likely.

Thanks, will probably rent an 808 for the front.  I just got a wheel cover for the back and will be putting in a latex tube soon.  Put one on my front and combined with the wheel cover on the back I have improved my speed.

Worked out perfectly that I will be attending a conference the following week.  Tried to extend my conference hotel reservation back to the race date and could not.  Evidently UT is having parents week and the hotels at least the ATT conf hotel was booked.  Going to try to find a hotel a little farther out for Sat and Sunday.

Hows the training going guys?
Just working it up here. Muncie 70.3 next weekend, then the BIG prize IMLOU in Aug.
Solid 14 mile run the other day and feeling good about fitness/speed.
The plan is to take off sept after IMLOU to recover and train, then do Rev3 Anderson SC Oly Oct 9th, then cruise into Austin ON FIRE for 70.3 Austin in late Oct.
Hope everyone is feeling good and gaining momentum!!!!

Training is coming along well.  I have a sprint on July 10th, an Oly in Aug then next is Austin.  Really concentrating on the bike right now with intervals and shorter rides (up to 35 miles) and expect to push the distances back up soon.  With NOLA turning into a 69.1 I need to start pushing the swimming but the Oly training will cover most of it.

Any recommendations on hotels would be appreciated.

Achilles problems have popped up again for me.  Running has been limited for the last few weeks which has me worried.  I'm starting to ramp up on the bike & swim in the meantime.  Trying to get out on some rolling hills every weekend.  I have an olympic in San Antonio at the end of July, so I will see how my achilles holds up for that.

I'm in for this.  Looking for some revenge on a HIM course after Galveston.  Five flats between mile 29 and 41.

Not signed up yet, but this is definitely on my calendar.  I did this race in it's inaugural year in 2007, so I'll be interested to see how the race has grown!

Well, I hope to see you there!  My current plan is to get in Saturday morning, get settled and check in.  Worked out perfect as I have a conference the following week there so just going to hang out Sunday and Monday (actually work from the hotel room on Monday).

Next week I will have to get a hotel room for Saturday and Sunday.  Rest of the week is covered.

I am flirting with the idea of signing up for this race. It would be my first HIM so I am a little intimidated!
