Did anyone train outside today in Socal?  Man was it brutal...  110 in my neck of the woods and we're about 8 miles from the beach...

Yes, and it royally sucked.  Got back from my run earlier and sat in front of a fan for 30 minutes.  Yesterday was just as bad, but to add insult to injury on my long ride I had a bee fly straight into my ear and sting me in the opening.  Heh, on the plus side at least I didn't notice the heat for several minutes after that.

I did a 40 mile ride along PCH yesterday morning (finished @ around 11:00 when things were just starting to get toasty) and tried to do a short run this afternoon, but had to quit after 1/2 mile for non-heat related issues...but it was damn hot.

Plan to ride early tomorrow morning (5-ish) and get our in front of the heat.  Should be a nice mid-70's ride at that hour Sealed

Come on guys...  We have had 3 months of 100+ with the heat index in the 110+ range most of the summer.  The truth is that it is really brutal and you should take more water and gatorade (for the salt) than normal.

No, but then I was at work freezing my butt off in an air conditioned office. Didn't realize it was hot until lunch time. After work I went from one air conditioned building to another (vet, bowling alley, home). This is typical September, though, isn't it?

I did...but it was a swim, and it was 6:00 in the morning.  Smile
Definitely hitting the gym tomorrow....it was 109 here today, and I'm looking forward to the gym's A/C!

Passed some guy running today while I was driving...it was about 10:00 in the morning, and almost 100 degrees...and he was running in long sleeves. I hope he didn't pass out from heat stroke....

I had the day off working at home, so I decided to run "early-ish".  Left the house for an 8 miler about 7:30.   Waaaaaay too late, already heating up, and I don't do swell in heat.  Turned it at 3.75 to at least get 7.5 in.  Was pouring water in my head on the way back.  Got in the car to go get a coffee it said 91.  And I'm a mile from the beach

I did and bonked hard on my bike ride, but it was due to the fact that I did not eat anything before.  I never bonked that hard before.  It sucked.  The heat may have added to it but I think it had to do more with nutrition.

I used to love cycling in 100+ degree weather, but considering I've had my last 2 injuries in 100+ weather, I take it easy those days.  I just lose way too much water too quickly.

Yeah, but it was a ride that finished by 8:15am.

Did run 12 miles (in Encino) yesterday evening when it was still in the mid-90s, though.  And a 30 mile ride in the mountains on Saturday with about 3500' of climbing or so...pushing 100F when we were finishing up.

Planning a 7 mile run tomorrow AM, but should be done before it really heats up.  Swimming (outdoor pool) after work...should be pretty brutal then, but not in the pool.

My wife ran in the morning and said "I think you'd be pretty dumb to go for a run this afternoon" and for once I listened and road the trainer inside instead.  Heading out right now for that run (it's the next morning.)

I think yesterday's heat put a bit of scare in some people cuz I was out for a ride this morning early (5:00am) and where/when there are typically quite a few cyclists and runners out, there were very few.  And the weather was just perfect:  70-ish with a gentle ocean breeze..

Ran at my run club at 6pm in Calabasas...only did a little over 4 miles but it was fine. Ran with a fuel belt though which I never do for runs that short...really only used it to get the dryness out of my mouth.

Rode 20 miles through Carlsbad and Oceanside at about noon but with the breeze from the headwind along the coast it really wasn't so bad. Headed inside to the treadmill for a 9 mile run. It was supposed to be 11 miles but by the time I got to mile 9 I just couldn't handle the mill for another second!

I did an 11 mile run yesterday morning, but starting at 5 am I beat the heat.  I'm in the inland valley so still in the low 70's then.

I did see a young guy running on the way home when the temp was well over 100, wearing a long sleeve hooded sweatshirt with the hood up.  My guess is wrestling season is coming.
