I will be in Rancho Santa Margarita on Wednesday morning.  I want to ride my bike in the afternoon and I have to believe that it is cooler there than here (San Gabriel Valley - think Pasadena - think hot hot hot).  I don't know RSM at all and hope that someone has some good ideas for a riding route.  Of course, if it is going to be over 100F there, it doesn't matter and I will come back home and bake.

Thanks.

In Mission Viejo today, the heat index was supposed to be 108 at 5:30PM, so they canceled the dryland portion of my daughters swim practice. It takes about 5 minutes to get from the pool to RSM, so my guess is it's going to be boiling.

Sorry.

It was 109 there yesterday so don't expect any cool temperatures.

How far are you riding?  Here are two of my regulars originating in RSM.  Have fun, stay cool.

The second one looks exactly like what I wanted.  Except for the 109F part.  Now I'm not sure what I'm going to do.  I thought it might be cooler down there, but I see that this was yet another of my fantasies.

Thanks for the info.  It might be saved under "for future reference" since I do get down to RSM a couple times per year.

Yea, the second one is great.  Santiago canyon is probably one of the most popular bike routes in the OC.  Enjoy . . . .
