For an August Oly, you should do Maple Grove. I am planning on that one (and Liberty I think).

Slahmmer - 2010-09-29 4:40 PM I've definitely started thinking about my plans for next summer! I know I want to do at least one olympic distance tri and also a 1/2 marathon, maybe sprinkle in a few local sprint tris (like YWCA womens, esp if its at Nokomis which is pretty much my backyard). Right now I am thinking of looking for a late spring/early summer 1/2 marathon (like early May) and then gear up for an olympic sometime in August. Nothing is set in stone though. Sarah

Maple Grove sounds like a good choice. I will definitely keep it on my short list. I really liked Liberty the year I did it but I think I'd be better trained for the tri if I did the 1/2 marathon early in summer and tri late in summer instead of the other way around.

Thanks!

I just thought I would mention the Minneapolis Marathon 1/2 if you are interested Sarah.  Team Ortho puts on GREAT races.  I did the 1/2 last year, it was my first one and I had a blast.  It was June 6th of 2010 and will probably be around the same time next year.  They do a good job of staggering all their races throughout the year (Jan, March, June, August, October)
