I've decided to get a kurt kinetic trainer but wondering which one.  The road machine or the pro.  But I have a couple of questions.  Does the extra flywheel make a big difference?  Also I have only a gps bike computer so to track mileage, I'll have to get a new bike computer, but has anyone used the kurt kinetic power meter.  I was just going to buy a cheap wired computer for winter use but would like some opinions.  Thanks

I have the green KK road machine and like it a lot.  I use it with a rear wheel speedometer as a pseudo power meter.  I've been using it for about two years now and find it to be quite repeatable.  And being able to train with power help me a lot with staying focused on the trainer.

The only downside I've found with this setup is that I now want a power meter to take out on the road ....

If you are patient, you can find the dual flywheel setup for the price of a standard KK road machine at performancebike.com. They put that sale on from time to time.

I use their wired power computer. Works fine for a low budget entry. The wireless has heart rate monitor as well. Both decent price. Customer service and warranty are excellent. (Also have the road machine, no issues.) The only issue with wired is after a workout, it does not retain the average power. (Not sure if any power meter does that...)

I'll second this.  I ordered my road machine online (forget where) and had a problem with the fluid unit after a couple months.  Called Kurt, told them about the problem, gave them the serial number over the phone, and I had a new fluid unit two days later.  No charge, nothing to ship on my end, and no subsequent problems with the replaced part.
