Age Group Rank = 62/84
Pre-race routine:

Woke up and ate ego with pb and oj. drove to site and got set up. sat back and listened to radiohead until race time.
Event warmup:

Nothing
Swim
  • 33m 50s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

Timing chip strap almost came off half way into the first lap, so I had to stop and take it off and hold it in my hand for the rest of the first lap. Put it back on once I was out of water, but came off again when i jumped in the water. thankfully someone saw it and give it to me. wasted a few minutes here. i will be getting my own strap before next race. the one i had looked like it could fit on an elephant.
What would you do differently?:

Not have timing chip issue and not be sick all week leading up to event.
Transition 1
  • 04m 42s
Comments:

need to work on this
What would you do differently?:

be faster
Bike
  • 1h 16m 59s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Headwind was tough, but thankfully turned into a tailwind for last half of each lap.
What would you do differently?:

Pedal faster
Transition 2
  • 02m 22s
Comments:

took too long getting all my gear together
Run
  • 1h 12m 45s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

SUCKED !!! Got a mile into run and didn't have any juice left. Hamstrings were really tight and I had to keep stopping to strech them.
What would you do differently?:

Again, not be sick the whole week leading up to race. I got in some long runs leading up to this race and was hoping to do better. Energy level for whole race was low.
Post race
Warm down:

Waited for transition to open up

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being sick and not getting enough calories/nutrition on the bike

Event comments:

Great race! Only two improvements would be to have a port-a-john right at the run out and have a central houston packet pickup during the week.
