Subject: The best training tool.

So my mom came up to watch my race last weekend. This was her first tri experience and none of my relatives has seen one before, so she video'd the event to bring back to show my grandmother and aunts, etc. and sent me a copy. She made sure to tape myself along with my 4 other friends participating.

She called me after watching it Sunday night and started telling me things she observed. She said things like, "You know, Joe had a really long transistion because he sat down and took his time. He also walked his bike in trasitions and out of them, while you ran everywhere!" Remember, this coming from someone who didn't know anything about tri's!  We both did not realize her taping each of us coming out of the water, T1, going out and coming in on the bike, and T2 would be so valuable! What started out as a fun video, something different than regular pictures, has turned into such an asset!

I recommend to anyone if you can get a family member or friend to video your next race (preferably sprint and Oly since anything longer usually requires a longer, more careful transistion) to do so. You notice little things other than placement of gear that you wouldn't otherwise. I am still confident on my transition set up, but the order and way I do things can definately be improved.
BTW: I am still proud of my 56 second T2!! and I watch race videos in my office. I really need more to do.

That is an excellent idea! I think I love it, as a matter of fact!

How much to rent your Mom's video services?

Tri-Comet, you sure spend a LOT of time on triathlon activities in your office.
