I ran across this in a couple of places on the internet. Make any sense?

Uhh...it's natural for most of your body fluids to be slightly alkaline.  Your body even regulates it's acidity and alkalinity on it's own, but you can also help by eating certain foods

Not even a little bit. Your body works really hard to maintain a pH that is ideal for biochemical function. You're not going to affect that much by what you eat.

Lithium Ion is generally thought to be better all around.

I heard barefoot running raises your body's PH level.

supposed to help the metabolization process. Most people run more acidic because of all the processed foods and sugar in their diet. Personally, I don't believe balancing your PH has much of an effect on weight loss until you get to those problem areas or last little bit. Then balancing it out helps you burn the hard to lose fat. But that's just the same as eating "organic". It has the same effect. But that's just my opinion.

Some people claim that an alkaline pH will be better for calcium absorption while an acidotic pH will be worse.  Since I don't particularly care either way, I can't, nor will I try to back that up with data.  I'm sure there's a study or two on both sides though.

In the end, just don't eat food that's bad for you, and you'll likely be just fine, although the occasional Devil Dog won't kill you either.  Unless you choke on it and die, that is.

Like many things it is a solution for a problem that does not exist. Your body handles this very well by itself.

It's BS. If you alter the pH of your 'body', you will die. Enzymes work in a fairly narrow pH range. If you go outside of this range, they stop working. It's really pretty simple. That's why your body works so hard to regulate the pH of the fluids in it.

Bingo. And anything you eat is broken down by the acid in your stomach. Your intestines absorb the nutrients available and the rest makes poop. Your kidneys and liver filter out what's good and bad, adjusting the chemistry to make it useful for your body. If they are working properly, the pH of your body will NEVER change. This is pretty basic physiology.

This one doesn't even require Mythbusters... just an understanding of H.S. Biology.

#1 - No matter what you eat, you stomach releases enough HCL to drop pH level so that it activate the Pepsin in your stomach. The more alkaline the foods that you eat, the more HCL your stomach releases.

#2 - A Previous poster already explained that the body maintains it's optimal pH. (Slightly above 7, but I forget.)
When I worked at J & J labs, all of our in vitro tests had to be buffered within a .2 pH level or else our results needed to be completely scrapped.

Thank goodness.  I thought I was the only one and wasn't going to admit it.

7.35 to 7.45.   Which is slightly alkaline, but you'll never be able to control it, even in you take something alkaline IV (because of your blood's buffering system).
