Swim
Comments: Great swim. I had the usual "Why am I doing this?" and other negative thoughts for the first 2-300 yards. Fortunately, I got them out and just concentrated on swimming a straight line. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Took it easy since I knew it was going to be a long day. What would you do differently?: Skip the wet suit strippers. My left leg started to cramp when they yanked the suit. This happened last time I used the strippers. Bike
Comments: My goal was to finish in 3:15 and I did 3:05. My hill climbing needs work. Kept getting passed by a woman on an old bike every uphill. What would you do differently?: More hill training. Transition 2
Comments: A bike on one side was too close and I knocked it off the rack. It didn't fall but it took some time to move it and get mine racked. There was little room to move. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I started out at about a 9:30 pace, much faster than I planned. Slowed down a bit and had a nice pace for 7 miles. I got tired, felt like it was hard to breathe, stomach tight and started to run/walk for the rest of the race. I missed my goal of sub 6 but was still happy with the results. What would you do differently?: Better nutrition on the bike. I had 2 bottles of Accelerade and only drank about 1-1/2. Post race
