Pre-race routine:

Banana and water. I didn't even think of packing Gatorade, salt tabs, power bars, etc. I finally found a Gatorade station about a half Hour before the start, I was craving some sugar water.

I'm sure the beer/burger for lunch and the 9:30 PM deep dish pizza/soda will really help as well.
Event warmup:

sit around the park with Jake wishing the race would start already. wow, there are a lot of people here. 50 states and 150 countries represented.

Comments:

my goal was to experience Chicago...did that, but I didn't feel prepared. Only 1 twenty mile run, and 7-8 weeks of on again off again training, I guess I got what I expected. One thing is for sure, I"m hungry for training again. Ready to get back on a schedule. need a plan.
What would you do differently?:

Get reservations for Saturday night. Start out a little slower.
Post race
Warm down:

walked about a mile or so back to the hotel. sucked down part of a 312 beer then took in some Gatorade REcovery...that's good stuff. ate a little and hooked up with Jake at the hotel, he had to bale at mile 13, his back was acting up and he wasn't able to train much due to several achilles and shoulder injuries.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training 3 days a week for only 7-8 weeks.

Event comments:

Not sure it can get any better. Boston, Chicago...next up...New York!
