Subject: RE: Ironman World Championship 70.3 Destroyer - 2011-07-18 1:10 PM I'm planning on previewing the course this weekend. Is there anything I should be aware of in regards to condition of the roads or spots that aren't as safe as others? Will I have access to all areas of the course or need to make a detour for any sections? I don't really need to preview the lake swim, but I am scheduled to get wet. Is the lake an option? Thanks. You'll have to head to Boulder Beach if you want to get wet. It's not the same, as Lake Las Vegas resort area is a little more calmer, while Boulder Beach is Lake Mead (and colder), and very rocky. Other than that, if you park at Lowes, away from the public area (park in the corner) in the parking lot on the right side instead of the left side. Biking shouldn't be an issue - go very early, and bring lots of water as there's no water stops along the route. Running - I have no idea what's the route is, but if it's around the resort, you shouldn't have an issue, but if it's on the right side of the Resort, taking you to a trail and run around the mountain - there is a gate, and it will be closed off. The website doesn't have a map yet, so I can't tell you if that's where the run section is. It was for the other triathlons that I was in. Good LUCK!! |
