depends on its form (powder or whole meat). I wouldn't do more than 20g of powder in an hour. Otherwise you'll be farting up a storm.

I have heard 40g at anyone time as anything over that would go to waste. I normally don't exceed 40g in any one meal.

It's grams per kg of body weight that are important.  I don't know what's recommended for a single serving, but for daily amounts, the US RDA is 0.8 g/kg.  For athletes they find benefits in the range of 1.4 to 2.0 g/kg/day.  Also kids who are still growing tend to be in the higher range.
