Girls on the Run 5k

Hey BT - I have learned a lot about the Girls on the Run program in the last couple months as my friend is a coach. 1000 girls between the ages of 8-12 will be participating in a 5k on November 21, 2010. The event is open to anyone who wants to participate and support GOTR and the twenty dollar entry fee goes back to the girls for things like scholarships to the program and running shoes for those in need. From the website: the program uses the power of running to teach every girl about her personal power and the importance of being healthy and active.

Anyway it seems pretty cool and I will be there as I have seen the life lessons that are being taught to the girls and find it very worthwhile. Rather than rambling on even more here is a link to the event and a brief description of what they do:
