While 100 miles is pretty low mileage for truly dedicated runners, it is a real milestone for me.  The weather has been bad so biking and swimming miles are way down.  Running though can be done in near tornado conditions, so I figured it was a good time to add some miles.

I plan on doing my second Marathon this January and I hope to complete is in less than 4:00 hours.  Last year (my first Marathon ever) with no long runs except one half marathon and fairly low monthly mileage, I finished in 4:34, but it was personally a disappointing time and I was really maxed out physically.

Congrats!

I'm doing my 2nd marathon next weekend, & would be very happy with your 4:34.  I also hit 100mi for 1st time last month & my middle-aged knees & feet tell me I may have got there too fast.

I think that is a cool milestone.  It's definitely a goal of mine.

I hit my 25,000 yd swimming month and my 500 mile biking month but I failed at 100 miles running.  I registered for a marathon next May so I expect to hit that goal in the next few months.

That's a goal I'm working toward, was so close this month, will probably be about 92...something always seems to get in the way though, this month I lost one long run due to tapering for a race, then strained a muscle in said race and missed two runs this week. But it seems like every month there is one "bad" week (illness, other committments) and I just don't get there. So I think you should be very proud of it! Maybe for in November for me!

Congrats on hitting the 100 mile club. I am right behind you at 83 miles for the month and 3 days to go. Thanks for the incentive

Super congrats! Awesome to see somebody taking the running seriously, getting motivated by a race that was a little disappointing, and going the right way about getting faster! You're going to love how you end up doing, I bet!

You don't need to run anywhere near 100 miles per month to run a fast marathon.

Ok.  Now I'm wondering where everyone is getting this advice.  I'm not coach at all, but can tell you if you are running 100 miles a month and you can't BQ your age group/gender you are running some serious junk miles.  You can run a great marathon with 4 runs per week (5 runs per week only during peak weeks).  One fast tempo.  One hard hill run.  One middle distance.  One long distance.  Peak around the mid-50s.
