Casey is my hero!  I was gone a lot longer than expected and she had tried to call me several times.  I had my cell in my jersey but with my iPod on, I never heard it ring.  She was worried so came out looking for me.  She found me still about 7 miles out and we exchanged thumbs up.  She turned around headed back home...or so I thought.  There is a 3/4ths of a mile stretch that is out on HWY 72 (busy 4-lane with no shoulder) that is heavy with traffic this time of day.  Especially right at noon as all Methodist are trying to beat the Baptists to the buffet!  I dread getting out on this highway when there is a lot of traffic.  But when I got there today, Casey was waiting for me!  She rode right behind me with that big Yukon Denali like my guardian angel and I knew she had my back!  She was not going to let anyone motor too close to me!  She is my hero . . . everyone needs a hero!

I know that highway well.   I live a bit west of you, just off of same said highway.  I will only ride it on Sunday mornings, early.  I don't like riding on it even in my little country town.  Don't want to imagine riding it in the metropolis called Huntsville.  It's a nice, mid sized city, but it is a city, non-the-less.

It's nice to have backup....

I'm surprised an advocate of "why one should NOT wear an iPod/MP3 player while running/biking" hasn't piped up.  This would be a prime example.  I'd doubt putting the phone on vibrate would even matter or help anyways, but, I don't know.

I had to edit and add - Glad you have a guardian angel!

Thats right! You shouldn't. Also, as a Methodist, I would prefer it if you got it right. We head to the liquor store after church, not the buffet!

Well w/o an iPod I still don't hear the thing about 1/2 the time anyway.  Wind noise is almost equal to my iPod volume so it's almost a wash.

The phone is mostly for my benefit but I went a little longer than usual Sunday so she was a little concerned.
