OK peeps,

It's time to predict the finish time for my first ever Ironman!  My "goal" is <11:30, though I'd really like to break 11 (I'm just not sure if I will).  The "winner" will get my respect and a pat on the back.

All of the pertinent info you may want is below:

  • Last race - Savageman - 5:58:11 (37:07 / 5:08 / 3:26:41 / 2:20 / 1:46:57)
  • Half IM PR - 2009 Eagleman - 5:23:26 (40:51 / 3:37 / 2:51:55 / 3:19 / 1:43:45)
  • Oly PR - 2010 Columbia - 2:33:57 (29:36 / 3:48 / 1:15:01 / 1:31 / 44:03)
  • Marathon PR - 2008 Baltimore - 3:28:35 (7:58 pace)

October's totals:
Bike:29h 22m 34s  - 532.81 Mi
Run:17h 00m 52s  - 131.05 Mi
Swim:14h 26m 06s  - 41265.18 Yd

2010 totals
Bike:236h 29m 02s  - 4087.79 Mi
Run:129h 21m 57s  - 981.9 Mi
Swim:101h 33m 34s  - 278010.4 Yd

2009 totals
Bike:138h 29m 12s  - 2355.95 Mi
Run:159h 53m 59s  - 1225.14 Mi
Swim:58h 08m 33s  - 154952.4 Yd

do you plan to sit up and wait if when a peleton swallows you up?

not trying to take away from your IM experience at all with that question.  I honestly don't know what I would do in that situation... but I do know that the answer would make a huge difference in my finish time.

I'm putting you down for a 10:48.... of course there's no penalty for an overbid?
I'm basing this on your SM performance...the hardest race you'll have done for 2010Laughing

Bike:   5:55:00
T2:           3:30
Run:    3:55:00
Total:   11:17:00

Go get your goal!

New TT bike... check.
"fast course"... check.

I'm going 11:04... on pace to get it but cramps with 3 miles to go.

If you run sub 3:32:08 I'll officially be "the other Josh" for 2011

I'm going to say 11:59, because the faster times are pretty well covered, but I hope you go faster... It's starts to get painful if you spend any longer than that out there.

Who is officially "the other Josh" this year?

Does that mean the person who is not "the other Josh" is considered "The Josh"?

Just getting clarification.

Well the other Josh may disagree, but I am the Josh and he is the other Josh based on BT tenure, number of posts, and superior narcicism.

It's like scamping - we can all do it, but there's only one Scamp!

I thought we agreed that I was Josh since I was older and better looking?  :-)  BAM!  Now that's narcissism (spelled correctly, I might add).

So far Tim is my "BT Best Friend", while Shane is dead to me...   :-

Thanks for all the kind words all.  I'll be thinking about you guys tomorrow.

Good luck today, other Josh.  I'm afraid since I have no idea what all this "BAM" stuff is the group may agree that you must be THE Josh.  Is gray hair more aero?

Good job, I was really impressed when you came through with a really fast bike time, and then hit it off with some 8 minute miles.  I think you were on target to break 11 at that point.  Let's see a race report soon.  Tell us what they did about the oil.
