Really, you can't do much better than "Run Mommy, Run!"  Means the world to me.  Similarly, when my husband ran his first half, I made the boys shirts that said "My Dad Can Run 13.1"

Here is a funny sign that my fiance and I made for the 2008 NYC Marathon. The funny thing was we didn't even know anyone running it that year. We just made the sign and went to spectate and make the runners laugh. The best part of this picture is that we didn't even know the Asian guy on the right nor did he know what was on the sign but he helped us hold it up!

My first HIM was yesterday, I am coming off a stress fracture in my heel.
I'll  see if I can get a pic but my friend made a sign that said:
Your feet hurt because you are kicking so much A$$!

lisac957 - 2010-11-08 4:11 PM Me cheering people on at my local marathon a few weeks ago. I admit I stole the idea from IMMOO.
My other favorite there was "You are really good at exercise!"

Cute chicks cheering me on always motivates me

TRICLOPICUS - 2010-11-08 7:36 PM At the Chicago Marathon this year I saw some great ones.  The one that really got me laughing was:

"Run!  Chuck Norris is right behind you!!!"

At the Akron Marathon, there was a sign "Chuck Norris never ran a marathon"

Funny at IMWI it was "Chuck Norris never did an ironman."

ersmith29 - 2010-11-08 3:23 PM At Denver Rock & Roll marathon - A Marathon is 26.2 miles because 26.3 would be CRAZY.

I also saw that one at Twin Cities this year and it made me laugh!

Also saw:
Smile and wave if this is your first marathon.

Follow me, I know a short cut. (at about mile 14ish)

If it were easy, we'd all be out there with you. (at about mile 22)

And lots of others that I seem to have forgotten

This thread is absolutely terrific!  I hope more people will post their 'sign' experiences.

I, for one, obviously need to pay more attention to race signs.  I have definitely been missing out on some great laughs (and encouragement) courtesy of a severe case of tunnel vision.

I laugh at grammatical errors on signs, too, but not sure it deserved a high five!

At the Marine Corps Marathon a few years back, some girl had a sign that said "Free Beer and Sex at the Finish Line."

Crossing into Brooklyn at the NYC Marathon that same year, "Welcome to F*#*in Brooklyn"

Not a sign... sorry to break the rules... but at my last race there was a giant climb with a few twists. Nearing the end of the climb (but because we couldn't see the top), they had spray painted the road with "Halfway There!" It was cruel!

I haven't read the thread, so maybe someone posted these already.

This weekend, I saw one that said something to the effect of "Holy $h!t!  You're an Ironman!".  There was another that said "Free cold pizza and IV's at the finish line!"

Around mile 5 of the run at Nations Tri I saw:

"Cheer if you peed in your wetsuit!"

That got alot of laughs from a bunch of very tired people trudging along...

Yes, that one just stuck in my head, I think next to it it said "only 21 mile until beer" or something like that. At that point I was glad I was only doing the half!
