Subject: Felt AR Series anyone on one?
I'm thinking about a road bike to add to my stable, whether it's a financially smart decision is still up in the air but I can't help but drool over the relatively new line of Felt AR (areo road) bikes.

Is anyone currently riding one? I'm looking at the AR5 which is the bottom of the line, with Felt wheels and Shimano 105 components/FSA Crank. From what I can tell the frames from the AR5 to the AR3 are identical and the components are the cause of price increases. I know I don't need the "nano carbon blah blah technology" in the AR1 frame and was just thinking of upgrading the 105 components further on down the line.

I guess my question is, will I be happy with the 105 components considering I currently ride a P2 with Ultegra? I'm guessing the biggest difference is in weight savings and I should be more than happy on the AR5, and that I can upgrade in the future with the more miles I put on the bike. Thanks for any info.

Here's a pic

Hey there
I've got an AR4, and love it!
But...... it's my only bike, as I couldn't justify 2 bikes to the boss, so went with an aero road bike, and it's perfect for what I need.
If you already have a P2 I might be tempted to look at something other than an aero, such as an R3.  If you do go AR, the 4 is Ultegra rather than 105.  If you're wondering whether you'll be happy with the 105, I reckon you should go Ultegra so you know you'll be happy.  Though I admit the 2011 AR5 looks better than the AR4. (My AR4 is 2010 and is black and pewter rather than orange!)
Sorry I can't help more, but if you do decide on an aero bike, you'll love the AR series.  Just whether you need the aero.....

PS: If you do go AR, let me know what wheels you'd like to put on it, I still can't decide...

I've been on the AR multiple times.  Love it and love the look!  But the 2011 AR4 is butt ugly... If you can wait another year, I bet prices will go down (like they have the past few years)... especially if they use the same mold.

I just don't think I can justify to myself the extra 1100$ to go from the 5 to the 4. I already have a set of 808's that I would throw on the bike for races and just upgrade as I go component wise.

I'm just glad to hear positive reviews for the bike in general since it is a relatively new model compared to some of the more established brands out there.

Just me...but if I was buying a new AR, I would get the ultegra.  With that being said, I upgraded my 105s to ultegra last spring and I kind of wish I would have saved the money and put it toward a new bike in the future.  I was just as happy with the 105s.
