Subject: Choosing A Bike Trainer
I'm going to buy a bike trainer this week.  I am stuck between two: Kurt Kinetic Road Machine and CycleOps Fluid 2.  What say the BT folks?

I can't wait to get it.  Still recovering from a complicated foot fracture, but will be able to get back on the bike - indoors only.  Looking to regain the strength I've lost in my left leg and loss of cardio.  Want something relatively quiet since I will be riding at 5:00 a.m.

Comments for or against welcome!

I've read some very good reviews on both.  I bought the KK simply because I found a better package deal.  Trainer, floor mat, riser and KK computer for $390.

I love my KK.  Well build, smooth, and fairly quiet.  From what I researched, great customer service.  With that said, I don't think you can go wrong with a CycleOps either.

Good luck and ENJOY!

I love my KK also. Not the first complaint at all.

Nothing against Cyclops. It's just that my LBS carries Kurt.

I really do like my CycleOps Fluid2. But you can't go wrong with either one. Get the one where you get the best deal

Great info for me too...I just sold my spin bike yesterday to make room in my workout room for my bike and a new trainer...can't wait to get it!  Looks like either trainer is stellar...let the bargain hunting begin!

I love my KK. Solid as a rock, not too noisy. And it provides a way to train with power without owning a powermeter.

I have the CycleOps and its been awesome, first generation Magneto. However, I use it all the time, Its lasted 9 years and I have had to change the L screw that allows you to pull the roller to the tire twice. I'm bored with it and need something new so I will be getting the wonder green machine Kurt Kinetic Road machine with the extra fly wheel. Mostly just because it is green, but I do like the idea of a more realistic ride feel, so they claim.

I know its not on your list and it may be more expensive --- but you may want to consider the
Travel Trac Real Axiom trainer -- it is like a low end computrainer.  you can set up any course you want on it (it hooks up and displays on your laptop or TV).  It give you power output, video courses, etc..

To me it makes riding the trainer way more fun and you can actually see what you are doing and track progress.

I found mine on craiglist for about $250 i think.
