Well it's pouring here only 1.25 hrs before the start. Anyone have an update on the plans for the race?

Great race, despite fear of cancellation at start. My first HIM. Did spot-on times (55 swim, 3:20 bike) but cramped up halfway through the run so walked 6.5miles and took a time beating. But got through, got my medal, and will revisit my training and nutrition plan before Augusta.

btw, Andy Potts is the nicest guy in the world and a sick athlete. He did something like 3:53 (23:25 swim, 2:08 bike at 27 mph avg, and 1:17 run at 5:40/mile avg).

Hope y'all had fun!

Good job jbjb110, see you @ Westpoint?
Looks like you guys got a break on the HEAT with the storms. I heard they changed the run? Is that confirmed?

jbjb110, checkout the GA board for reviews on the PTC Intl.

Well I am now officially 1:1 for HIMs that end without a concussion

Official times:

00:42:1802:58:4002:35:0606:27:38

I went out a little too hard on the bike and paid for it on the run.  Could not get a good pace on the first 1-1/2 laps.  My run finally came together on lap 3 (of course).  Oh BTW the coke at the aid stations is like crack.  Should have tried it on the first lap

This was my first time here so I do not know if the course changed but I thought it was just fine.  A little off-roading but the grass was short and the course was scenic.  I loved the tails back behind the wilderness lodge.  Plenty of aid stations and they doid not run out of anything.

I did think the swim was long however based on my times.

Was a bit scary there setting up in the AM with the lightning and rain but it made for a pretty nice day overall.  The first lap of the run was hot but it clouded up after that and the final 2 were pretty good.

The run was changed from last year.  At the point where you go water on the grass we turned left.  We did so last year as well.  However when the course turned left it went out much further last year.  To make up the difference they moved that portion to the point when you exited the paved trail and went left ran about a .75 of a mile and we did a turnaround.  This was much more shaded than the other area and made the run better.

Ah so there was not the out and back towards the Wilderness Lodge before?  A much smarter idea.  Hope they keep it this way.

You are correct.  The out and back toward the Wilderness lodge was the addition this year and much better.
