My friends and I were talking about how your lifestyle changes and the type of car you choose usually changes with it.

I've been a compact car driver my whole life...Civics, Focuses, neons and the like..
Now that I'm getting all Althletic...My tastes are going to trucks, jeeps and SUVs...

whats up with that?!

so what do YOU drive?

Explorer Sport. I need a new one, I was leaning towards an Accord, or Cooper, something like that. However, I am now looking at SUV's again just so I'm not cramped with all my gear and bike in a little car.

Any info/reviews on Xterras?

Focus wagon with a box on the roof and a bike rack in the back.

Oh yeah, and tons of crap (bottles, shoes, helmets, etc) all over the place.

Got a Jetta w/ a newly acquired bike rack on the roof.

I agree w/ the "lifestyle affects your car choice" theory though. I was dead set against a wagon, but now I'm Jonesing for a Impreza WRX Wagon. Lots of performance, wagon=space for tri gear, comes w/ factory roof rack and has AWD for nasty weather.

Subaru Forester to attend races.... Great Triathlete's car... My wife and I love it.... (she loves it most).  Lots of room in the back for the bike and stuff.
For everyday commute I drive a Toyota Camry....

I drive a 2004 Honda CRV EX.  The seats tumble up, leaving room for the bike and all the gear.  (Or on non-bike days, the hound dog walks around back there).  Roofrack for skis works well.  Love the all-weather mats that keep sand/mud/rain/riverwater/dog hair, etc. off the floor.  Just hose 'em down!  And it comes with a card table that fits underneath the back storage compartment (great for side of the road picnics.  A huge step up from my last vehicle (a 1988 Toyota Cressida - white with red velour seating and zero storage).

Honda S2000. My "other" hobby is auto-xing/tracking. Although lately I haven't been able to drive it much. I'm on the fence about keeping it, with an 8mo old baby in daycare it's starting to put a strain on the finances. My daily driver is an 05 Taurus sedan, it's a company car but available for personal use so I use that for hauling tri gear and the baby around. My wife drives a WRX wagon which is a great car but the Taurus can still carry more stuff even though it's only a sedan. Not as fun though.

I think about as close to an SUV as I could get would be a Jeep CJ7, not sure why, I just don't like most SUVs for some reason. But I like trucks, go figure. My wife had a Dakota 4x4 that was great, I'd go for an extended cab truck again before an SUV. Unless the family gets bigger, then an SUV starts to make more sense!

And NO MINVANS!! (for me)

Nissan Maxima. Bike goes in the backseat when I drive out to start my rides.

We just got an 01 4runner for the wife... but I'm lucky if I get to drive it. It does get to make the trips to races though..

Old Mercedes E-320 (I LOVE this car! Always Have) and yes, much to the horror of my girlfriend and everyone around me, I put a bike rack on the back and haul my Black and Blue Giant around with it... It's paid off this winter and I'm thinking I need a light truck or SUV. For the OWS gear, and the bike rack, and the dog... Yah - that's it - the dog needs a truck...

My girlfriend finds it comical that I now need two vehicles for my obsession.

Do you have tri stickers on the back of it? If so, I think I ran past it the other day near Mellow Mushroom on Monroe.

I drive an '01 Dodge Ram 1500.

1990 Volvo 740 Wagon. Runs like a champ, gets 30mpg and is indestructable. Holds a ton of gear as well. I love my Shaggin' Wagon...

black subaru outback impreza w/ Thule roof rack full of either dogs and their nasty drool and hair, or bike and roller blade and fishing stuff. I love my car.

My partner drives a Toyota Tacoma with full cab, and occasionally lets me come near it, I have even driven it a few times. She l;oves her truck more than she loves me

I love sub compacts - the whole SUV thing just makes me cringe. I have always equated SUV's with bullys and I've never met an SUV owner who failed to validate that impression.

My favourite car is my Toyota Tercel but I am getting used to the Honda Odyssey we got earlier this month. It handles like a big car but I don't like paying 100$ to fill up the tank and driving around with enough room for 7 other people and camping gear when I am alone in a vehicule. Just plumb does not make any sense

1993 Subaru Legacy L wagon. 198,000 miles and going strong. roof bike rack and always full of bike stuff.

i'd like a newer legacy wagon but im only 19 and i spent as much on my bike as i did my current car, and id still rather get a new bike than a new car.

I knew I wasn't the only one! Mine is old and grey, too, but more wagony than sedany.
