Di2 is awesome and if you have the coin, why not?
On the other hand, until I am as aero and powerful ( and more than likely as low also) as possible while being a good race weight I still won't think shifting is whats holding me back so I don't see Di2 in my near future.  Then again, I think a combo of DA and Ultegra works pretty damn good so maybe I'll never get there.
I do think aero and to some level weight trumps electronics when training is at a maximum ROI.

Di2 is super cool, but if you spend that money before getting a coach you can kiss that advantage goodbye.

As I recall, there were some who poopooed moving the shifters off the down tude...cost too much, not any safer, I'm used to putting my hand down between my legs anyway.

Di2 will be the norm in a few years.
