Run
Comments: I was cold for most of this run. I shouldn't have left my hat in the car. I started out a little fast and had to dial it back after the first half mile. At mile 3.5 we ran up a steep ramp onto the pier. I liked the addition of the ramp. It was steep and spread out the field a little. I had been running with a group and several people stopped to walk. I kept my pace in check until mile 4 then laid it down at the end. I'm pleased with the outcome of the race. What would you do differently?: Keep things in check for mile one. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed a cup of water and jogged up the Strand and watched the waves crash on the beach, not a bad way to start Thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for. I found a sunny place near the finish line and watched for my husband to finish the 5K. What limited your ability to perform faster: My limited run training. Event comments: I love this race. This was the first year they offered the 5 mile. I did this race the first two years they offered it and love it. The races start on time and are very organized. I love the idea the race promotes, "Move Your Feet Before You Eat." Lot's of families come out together to walk and run. It's really neat seeing several generations out together on Thanksgiving Day. This is an awesome race! On top of it 5 dollars of your 30 dollar race entry goes to local schools, you can't beat that. Last updated: 2010-11-22 12:00 AM

Up at 5:30 had a banana and some water on the way to the start. Had a gel 20 minutes before the start. My husband was racing too (the 5K) so we checked in and found the start.
Did a couple pick ups and jogged a bit at the start. It was really cold (for Southern California) and I was still shivering with tights, a base layed and a long sleeved tech shirt, I should have worn the hat but it work out well in the end. Let's say I got my heart rate up but nver was really warm.
