This is my goal race for my first half mary.  I'm looking forward to it!  Can anyone comment on the course (flat/hilly)?

I can't comment on the course - but it's my first half mary as well!

This one is on my radar ... not sure if we're going to do this one or the Ottawa 1/2.

I've done the full and will run it again this May.

The course is a net downhill; there are some rollers but for the most part I'd call it a very friendly first 1/2M course.  Its also quite pretty once you get about 5km in. Leafy boulvards around the UofT Mississauga and Mississauga Blvd.

Here is an elevation profile for 2007 (the course changed a bit since then)

I'm registered for this one.  It'll be my second, as I did the Scotia 1/2 in 2008.  As mentioned above, the course is net downhill, and really the only uphill you'll face is Mississauga Rd, after Dundas - but this is right after you've come running downhill, so hopefully the two cancel each other out.

I haven't signed up yet, but plan on signing up for the full.
I watched the race last year and it was very well organized, lots of fun!

Cross my fingers for a BQ time!

I'm keeping it on my radar.  I'm planning another spring half and I hope to get a 5-10 minute PR.  If that doesn't happen, I'll go to Mississauga.  Great course, fast, wonderful volunteers.  It will be hard to meet family at the finish line though.  This year they had big signs with letters on them that you could meet your family at.  Also getting from finish to start is tough logistically.  I would just plan on taking their shuttle.

The first time I did it my only complaint was lack of porta potties.  I seriously needed one and had to run 5 km before finding one.  This year it was much better with frequency, but when they did have one it was usually just one and had a long line.  okay for emergency use, but not if you are hoping for a PR.

I am debating about this. Its this or Ottawa. Logistics say this would be easier for me to put together, but I think Ottawa would be a great place to do my first Half Marathon at. Either one will be my first.

I haven't done this one but my running partner has done the half and the full and one thing to consider is that with the finish closer to the lake the temperatures can actually get colder as you finish. so don't toss your gloves if you take them off earlier in the race! Or put a warm sweater in your checked bag!

Also because this is a point-to-point course factor in the shuttle buses for getting back to your car/meet up point.

I did the half as my first road race of any kind last year and it went well.  I am probably going to do the half again in 2011.  The course is very kind the one significant hill that has been mentioned is approaching the 10Km mark and it is quite long (600m) and just went you think you are at the top there is a turn and it gets steeper.  After that it returns to being very kind.  Very good race to use for a personal best attempt or first race experience.

I'm not a fan of big races (pricey too), so it's unlikely that I'll sign up.  I lived just minutes from the course for years.  Very good course for a PR.  The only two hills I can think of are around UTM campus (does the course still go through UTM campus?) and mississauga road just south of dundas.

I've done this race 5 times. Its well organized and the volunteers are great. The one hill that is a bit of a downer is the one at 10 km. The previous post describes it perfectly. The other comment about the temperature difference along the lake is valid. Some years when its damp and cool at the start its magnified by the time your at the water. In the years where the weather is supposed to be warmer this doesn't end up being an issue.

I did this 1/2 a few years back, Im going to be doing it again this year, great 1st time course, but so is Ottawa, I prefer Ottawa (done that twice), but for my tri races this year Ottawa is to close for my 1st 70.3

I did Ottawa one time since they changed the weekend. Very unpredictable weekend to train for as far as temperature.  It can be VERY hot without much shade on the course at all.

I've registered for this race as my first half too.  A bit nervous but it'll be a good view about how training is going with lots of time to make alterations before my first HIM.

I did the half last year. The course is fast and nice, big trees and wide roads. The weather was just perfect to run and the busing from the finish line to Square 1 worked well. Free parking at Sq1 (make this race cheaper than Scotiabank/TO). I may go for the full this year if feel like making the BQ time....

I will be doing the half again as my set up for the Ottawa Marathon.  It is a great course and ran a 1:30 last year and hoping for  1:27 this year.    It should be on everyones spring race schedule.

This race will also be my first 1/2 Marathon!  My only other race experience was the 1st leg (3 person relay)of the 30K Bay Race last year, so I'm looking forward to this one!
