Yes.  In fact, I have an all-black (no pinstripe) suit that I wear this bow tie with:

cornchexs - 2010-12-03 10:17 AM Okay.  This is a little OT but is it acceptable to wear a bowtie with a standard black suit?  I have a wedding to attend this weekend (2nd cousin), followed by a Christmas party for my wife's work, and thought it would be cool to wear a bowtie.

I've never worn one but admire those that have to stones to do so and thought I'd like to join that club.  Any advice?

I needed this today. Cheery stuff. Especially about Nard Dog. I have 2 bowties and a bunch of neckties, but haven't worn either in a long while. I may have to break them out over the holidays.
And yes, I know, pics or it didn't happen. I'll keep you posted.

does the nard dog want some nard pups?  of course.

Wicked tie, literally. I'm assuming a black or gray shirt?

Nope.  White shirt.

The suit is a narrow-lapel suit (Hickey Freeman) and is never mistaken for a Tuxedo.  So there is no need to be mistaken for wearing a tux.

Plus, unless my shirt is gingham, I only wear white, light blue or light blue with white collar/french cuffs.

I prefer to let my tie speak and my shirt be a canvas.

This morning, dead tired.  Cold out.  That grey wool suit with light blue pinstripes looked very appealing.

So I put on suit.

Not thinking, grab a Purple paisley bow tie.  Grabbed the wrong bow tie as I have a blue one that goes with the suit.  Then I think to myself, who cares - today is just another day sitting in my office and my co-workers aren't going to notice the bow tie doesn't match the suit.

So I put on the tie.

Then, as I'm leaving the house, still feeling very cold.  I grab the first vest I can find.  It is a Green wool vest.  But again, tell myself "who cares, just sitting in my office all day."

I realize that today I look like a clown with a grey w/ light blue pinstripe suit, purple bow tie (purple cuff links) and a green sweater vest.  Oh well, I'm warm and comfortable in my office.

And, yep, recently realized that I have a video conference at 4 o'clock today.  Doh!

Oh well, if I lose the sweater vest and stay seated, all they will see if my white shirt and purple bow tie...

I love men in bow ties!

Just to clarify:

Men dressed JUST in bow ties?   Or bow ties in addition to other clothing?

Reminds me of this...  (This skit was awesome)
