Pre-race routine:

Up @ 5:00, had a bowl of oatmeal, filled a thermos w/ coffee. Volunteered 7:45-9:45.
Event warmup:

Short jog.
Run
  • 30m 57s
  • 4 miles
  • 07m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

I haven't run 4 miles in at least 4 months. Plan was to hang on to the fast girls as much as possible as long as possible. Didn't seem to be passed by many women.
What would you do differently?:

Never take a break from running again.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

I ran so hard I had trouble putting on shoes in T1. Then I was too chicken to try a flying mount.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to put shoes on pedals and mount like a real triathlete.
Bike
  • 32m 46s
  • 10 miles
  • 18.31 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt good to be on the TT bike. Started cramping almost immediately and this time decided to ignore it. Found that a higher gear and focusing on making circles helped some. The cramps felt like huge worms wriggling up and down inside my calves. Weird. As soon as the race ended they cramped so bad my toes curled up in my shoes and I had to stretch so I could walk.
What would you do differently?:

Practice bricks I s'pose.
Transition 2

Post race
Warm down:

Stretch, chat, have some cup o noodles broth.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of run training & still need to drop 10-20#.

Event comments:

Love the low-key fun atmosphere!

Nice! Pretty good run considering you haven't been training lately.
"The cramps felt like huge worms wriggling up and down inside my calves."  That would FREAK me out!
