Just bought my first pair of running tights and now have several questions:

1. Are you suppose to wear something under them?  (It felt as if there was no support for the man parts)

2. Just how tight are they suppose to be?

3. Is it wrong to wear shorts to cover up said man parts?

Olden goldie question...

If you don't wear anything in top..wear something underneath to keep it all in place...

As a triathlete...we are use to wearing lycra without anything on top..so if you feel comfortable ... go for it...if not put on a pair of shorts...

I wear mine without anything under or over.  Mine are, oddly, tight so I don't feel unsupported.

Plus I run in the pre-dawn hours so people can't really see too much for me to be concerned with that.

But the best advice I can give is to do what makes YOU comfortable.

Same.   I love the way my tights feel when I'm commando.   They're nice and snug and keep everything nice and "tucked."  I don't wear anything over them either, but I usually wear a slightly baggy shirt to help hide the junk (front and back)

I wear the same spandex shorts under them that I wear with my shorts in the summer. With all the compression going on you can tell I'm male but just barely so I don't sweat how it all looks considering I wear spandex in public anyway. Most of my runs are done at 3:30-5:00 AM and there aren't a whole lot of people who care up and about at that time of day.

I go commando, and like others, mostly running on dark, icy roads.

Mine must be to big...the tights that is. I have to wear my UA compression boxer jocks with them. The one race I wore them for my runner SIL told me to wear shorts over them. I have a trail race saturday and will probably not wear shorts.

Mine are tight but I still wear compression shorts or some sort of moisture wicking underwear. Especially in Winter.

i have some that are a bit looser, some a bit tighter, but nothing under or over them regardless for me, just seems and feels odd to me to wear something else over/under spandex.

1. No.
2. Tight, but comfortable.
3. Go ahead and wear something over them for comfort and warmth.

I don't wear anything under my tights, but sometimes I do wear shorts over them for the sole purpose of having pockets to put my gel packs in.

I wear an Under Armour Jock strap.  Can't stand running shorts under because they tend to bunch up.  The UA material feels good and does not rub or chafe.

I have some pairs that a tighter and I don't need to where anything underneath and I have others that require something underneath to keep the boys from bouncing around.

As for rocking shorts over the top or not, that's your call.  Just do what you feel comfortable with.  When I first started running in tights, I would wear shorts over the top.  However, as I got more comfortable with myself and realized it would be less things I would need to wash after, I did away with them.

I've been thinking about putting on a jockstrap for the first time since I was 15. I've been getting chafing from my tights even with body glide.

I wear tri shorts under mine.  Keeps things in place and on cold windy days, it gives my upper legs another layer to block the wind.

1.  I need to.  I've got two pair of tights.  CW-X Stabilinx and a pair of nike's.  Neither give me the support I need without some kind of under layer.  Just too much chafing.
2.  completely tight.  like a second skin- but not uncomfortably so.  Baggy/wrinkles either get in the way, or just look horrible.
3.  Well, if you've got something to be embarassed about- then, by all means, cover up.
Running shorts over tights are functional I guess.

I use a light coat of the cheapest chamois cream I've got even for running. It helps.

If you want to wear something over them by all means do so. I used to wear running shorts over my bike shorts when I first started riding do to the embarrassment of wearing the sole reason us guys used to go to the girls volleyball matches...spandex! Now I'm over it and let it all out there.

I wear a jammers under my tights. It provides the support and an extra layer to keep the area warm. That keeps my lower body comfortable down to 20 degF. At lower temps, I add a layer running pants to block the wind. I have run as low a -10 that way.

Another vote for wearing tri-shorts underneath.

I wear nothing underneath.

I wear shorts over top. I am not normally a bashful person, and frankly it doesn't bother me too much, but those tights are tight. I suppose they could be tighter but not much is left to the imagination. Usually I do not change my clothes just to make other people comfortable but I do in this case.

Maybe if they were a bit thicker I wouldn't have to.

I also did this until now. Much comfortable compared to nothing
