2 MILE RUN, 26 MILE BIKE, 4 MILE RUN

This event is for the multisport athlete who wishes to focus on cycling and running. This race is also for the athlete who wants to try something new and challenging.

DUthe2 is Howard County's first Duathlon! This event has a 7:00 AM start staged out of Western Regional Park. This event is easy to get to and is a welcomed change to experienced local multi-sport athletes.

The one lap - 2 mile run transitions into an 26 mile rolling bike course on the rural roads of Western Howard County. With only 3 true "hill climbs" this is a fast course! The final 2 lap -4 mile course is the same as the 1st run segment in that it is a combination of paved road and walking paths. DUthe2 Duathlon starts and finishes inside Western Regional Park.

This race is interesting because the bike leg seems kind of long compared to the run legs. The bike is more than 40K (Olympic distance) so you would expect the runs to be 5K & 10K or even 2 10Ks. I'm not sure who the targeted athlete is here.

Usually for runs of 2m and 4m you expect maybe a bike around 15-20m.

Curious.

I don’t consider myself a strong triathlete. I am not a fast at all but I would like to do it.
Iron Girl’s 17.5 mile hilly course took me 1:47 on my hybrid. This year I am doing it again but as a relay with me on the bike leg. I am hoping that with winter spinning and spring, summer riding, I will be ready to do this in much less time. Especially without being tired out by the swim.

I haven’t committed yet so I am still thinking about it.

I may consider this.  It will be a good run and specially bike training for the Oly or half IM I plan to do late next year.

Danny Serpico, who was one of the Team Fight coaches with Ulman Cancer Fund is the race director for Duthe2 - he ran a 5K fundraiser for UCF this summer, did a lovely job, and he's a heckuva nice guy to boot. Really hope that he's successful with this race - I'll be there in some way, either racing or volunteering. Hear it's a lovely course, too.
