My biggest question was why Alexander chose to wear a regular helmet rather than an aero helmet.

Not that that cost him the race or anything, just seemed odd since so many others were wearing the aero's, guess he must have been trying to stay cool.

I'm glad you caught that, me too. I don't have an answer, but maybe somebody has read or heard something on that. I wonder if he does that every race? I'll pay closer attention when I watch the reruns on Versus.

I think I also remember one of the pro women in a road helmet.

Some choose not to wear an aero helmet due to the heat at Kona.  It's a core temp/aeroness trade off and some opt to have the cooling effect of an open, non-aero helmet.  Chrissie Wellington might be the pro woman that may me thinking of that doesn't wear an aero helmet.

This. Craig get's too hot with an aero helmet in Hawaii. It's funny, it doesn't bother me at all there but everyone will respond to heat differently.

enderokc - 2010-12-21 11:23 AM for people dissing the convict on why he got to Kona, I would assume he qualified. He completed it with a time of 10:07:08!! WOW!!

Impressive. Every time they showed him on the show during the race, he looked like he was really moving.

Good on him.

Having had a good friend be heavily impacted by addiction( wife went off the deep-end), I spent some time reading up on it and getting informed. The true recovery numbers are startling low. Anyone who beats that beast has really done something.

I imagine that is due to the constant brain frying you are subject to in Arizona versus the lovely, cool, crisp air of Boulder CO.

Just some quick thoughts...

Kyle's personal story came across much better in 2009 when during his interview he mentioned that there were times he was scared to go to sleep because he didn't think he would wake up.  This year it came across as cheezy with him driving a Ford Edge to practice.

The finishers at night were good this year, I did prefer how they handled the woman from 2009 who had the stroke in regards to filming her finish.  Very well done.

It was very tough for NBC to show just how fast Raelert was running to catch Macca.  Matt Lieto who was doing the live broadcast continued to mention he looked like he was running a 10K.

NBC was able to get the two big stories of the men's pro race - Lieto's fade and the closeness of the finish.

Agree

But they did show how fast Carfrae was running.  She was down 11 minutes on the bike, and still won by over 7 minutes.  The way she blew by Steffen and Dibens was amazing.
