I'm not sure I ever heard the Kinks version.  Or were you thinking about "I Believe In Father Christmas" by Emerson, Lake and Palmer?  In any case I would add that one.

Greg Lake did this after leaving the trio somewhere in 1975, but allowed Emerson and Palmer to play afterwards.  This is a powerful Pop Christmas tune.  Here's the original vid -

I have both of those full-length albums. Yes, yes indeed, both Elmo and Patsy AND the Jingle Cats have albums, all to themselves.

I do still like Jingle Bells best on that album which i believe is also the opening number.

Also a good not-at-all-traditional one:  Christmas Card From a Hooker in Minneapolis, by Tom Waits (originally from 1978, but also recently covered very nicely by Neko Case).

Pretty much anything by Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, Burl Ives.  Also, David Archuleta does a really good version of O Holy Night.

Not entirely a Christmas song, but" The Prayer" with Celine Dion and Bocelli (I think that's right) is truly beautiful and proof yet again that we were created by an amazing God.
