Some days it is better to just stay in bed.  Tried to swim at lunch and get out of the funk, but the pool is closed for 2 weeks.

Yell

Some days, it is!

I'm still struggling with having been whomped by my third pretty-bad-serious tropical disease in the last 9 months. What's funny is I feel so good today I want to go out for a run!

What I need to remember is I feel so good today compared to how I have been feeling. I'm not actually well, and I am in absolutely no shape to run.

My goals this month are to walk an ave. of 15 minutes a day and get some swims in.

So much awesome catching up to do on this thread!

I got in a decent ride this weekend (40 miles give or take a little).  Changed a flat for a friend...all of the girls were super impressed.  Thank goodness my husband taught me how to do that!

Same friend took a wrong turn, so after giving her a shout, I stopped to wait on her to catch back up.  The nice lady riding behind me politely appologized...then fricking hit me.  Knocked me smooth off of my bike.  Luckily I was almost to a stop, so I landed kinda like you do when you unclip the wrong foot (you know you've done it)   The whole time I was thinking...If you have time to apologize, you shoud've had time to squeeze the little thingies that activate the BRAKES!  Anywho, a little scrape-age, blood and whiplash, but no harm done.  Bless her heart!

Now, off to yoga to stretch it out and firm it up.

Car-LA ... so happy you're back from your "manatee sabbatical"

yeah 40 miles ... that's a decent ... ly FANTASTIC ride I know you're aiming for a century ... and kiss and {MELON PRESS} for the boo-boos!

yay on the flat. Glad you brought it up.

FIXING A FLAT TYRE IS AN ESSENTIAL TRIATHLETE SKILL.

And it can actually be easy and fun. The video tutorials here on BT are good.

lmscozz - 2011-04-02 6:43 PM Don't ya just love yantis new avatar? Endorphin-induced hugs and flipper fives all around. Someone can take John up on his early morning challenge-- not me.

YES!!! LOVE IT!!! She always has the best avatars... and this one is awesome!

(.....so... I can no longer change the color on my text in BT anymore... in my blog or here.... anyone have any idea why???)

Awwww thanks!!!

It's inspiration for me, as in I CAN get back to that, but also a cautionary tale: I did that race coming off dengue fever and I may have really screwed myself up for the year, as I'm learning. (again ... ) DURRR!

Easy does it for this Manatee, and then I can have that runnin' girl back.

Could some/all of you please give me a cadence lesson?  I've gone from be terrified when I bike to feeling mostly comfortable.  But, I still doesn't really know what I'm doing.  I've read a bit about staying at a certain cadence, but don't really understand it.  So anyone that wants to share any tips, advice, info - I'D LOVE IT!  Thanks!!

Thanks - I'm officially in a new age group. Still a fast group, but now I'm one of the young pups in there.

Louise, go at whatever cadence seems comfortable to you. On hills, it's generally suggested you not go under 50rpm or so because that can really do a number on your knees. So hills--better to be spinning in a smaller gear than mashing on a larger one.

** VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE ***

It's that most blunderful time of the year, always coming ridiculously quickly, when this edition's mentoring season is 'officially' over.

There is a new Manatee mentoring group open (it's not in the "live" area, but will be soon) which you are welcome to join, or any other group for that matter.

We will still be checking in on this group, and it'll remain active so long as our Manatees want to continue posting in it.

You all are fantastic. It's been tremendous fun and a great privilege to travel with you.

Thank you for all the encouragement!!   Time really flew fast.  It is hard to believe that we are already archiveable.  Good Luck to everyone.  Thank you for letting me share in your journeys.

My focus changed and is now on running.  I am signed up for 3 halfs, a 25k, and 3 marathons for te remainder of the year.  I will probably not join a Spring mentor group so I can let there be a spot for a budding triathlete.  I do appreciate all the support.  Thanks again!
