That helps a lot. I am planning to switch to liquid cals at some point. I should have said I shoot for 250 cals every 30 min. I usually fall behind. I am not sure if there is a disadvantage to overshooting the necessary cals other than GI upset. I also get an aversion to sweets at times which is why I  carry the peanut butter crackers. They are salty enough to be pleasant. I can't do PB+J.

Are you worried about not having any protein?

Nice list Nerdjock.

I can add one more for long rides. Loaded baked potato. A little tricky to eat and I wouldn't do it in a race but great on a long ride.

We've also stopped for french fries, which we poured in our bento boxes.  Delicious!

I have a huge weekend coming up: 1 mile OWS race on Saturday, followed by an 85-90 mile ride and maybe a short run afterward.  10 mile run on Sunday, followed by a 30-35 mile ride.  I'm getting super excited for IM CdA.  Booked my plane tickets and bike transport yesterday.  Looking forward to meeting Slayer for a drink Laughing

Had kind of a rough day today.  The wind actually blew me over (always thought it would happen).  Managed to unclip in time, though the chain cut my leg up.  Anyway, I decided to go home before I flew into the dam in Lake Berryessa (where the Zodiac killer killed his first couple).  I'm over it and ready for tomorrow!

My new shuffle and waterproof case that attaches to my goggles came today.  I'm excited to try them out tomorrow.

Slayer power!

Peter: my Infinit has protein in it.  It's been great so far.  I was able to make the flavor really weak, so it's not sweet at all.  I get so sick of sweet drinks, but this is salty and great.  You can adjust all of the settings so it works for you.  Highly recommend!

Got another not sweet one: almonds.  They have all kinds of flavors now.  My favorites are the wasabi soy almonds.  So good.  Lots of savory flavors.

Hell to the yeah we are getting a drink in Idaho nerdjock, if only to toast you not getting blown off the ledge of a mountain!!! Thanks for posting the lists of foods. I can't eat much but I think it may be a function of my body relative to my effort and pace during races especially long course. I'm not implying anything at all negative about people that can eat proper food during the race just that for me it's a foreign concept other than sports beans, gu bloks, power bars, etc. Just the crap they sell in bike shops. The protein question is good. You reckon I need protein? I did 3 HIMs and 2 IMs without protein so I'm not sure I need it, but wonder if I can benefit from it. The downside is it spoils in the Ga heat I would think?

Hey you slayers! It looks like we got moved to the archived threads along with the other January mentor groups. I want to say thanks for allowing my into your lives and hope this thread was helpful. My hope is that you will continue to post here as needed for support or problem solving. If not, thats ok too, but know that I am always a PM away and that I know you will achieve your goals if you apply yourself. I probably won't be in as often with the last build for IMCDA staring me in the face, but knowing me i will find the time to get back here regularly. Keep up the great work. I am most impressed!

I second the thanks. This has been a great group and I enjoyed reading about other peoples struggles and successes. It has been very inspirational. Good luck to everyone this season and keep posting your races in case we ever overlap and get a chance to meet in person

Glad to know the thread will live on as I'd like to keep in touch with everyone. As you'll have seen from my last posts I've been dealing with a lot in the past few weeks but I think things will start to settle down a little more now on so I hope to keep in touch more. Just in case some of you do decide to drop off thanks for the input, it's a really great group.

Missing the gang. Sorry I am not better with updating. I do know that peter and nerdjock are racing this weekend in HIMs so wish them lots of luck and fun. hit us up with what you are up to! I am doing a sprint, my first race of the year somewhat interested. I will race hard but may be fatigued and thus sluggish, but you Slayer is going to bring it. Its time for you to prove it rubbed off! Kill em then show some class.

No race for me this weekend but I'll be out on the bike tomorrow after watching a bit of the wedding and I'll be doing a sprint next Saturday.

How're you all?
