I'll be sporting the red cap on Sunday at 7:35!!  My motivation will be to try and catch up to you the whole race -- NOT!!  I don't think I can keep up with your blazing speed!  I'll be heading down to Katy, TX on Friday to stay with my cousin; then off to Moody Gardens for packet pickup at 12:15 where I have a meeting with TNT. After that we're doing a team swim at 2:30p with bike check in at 5p.

Where you staying?

Help with the cycling will make a big difference. People around to push you will be good.

flygal - 2011-04-05 10:09 PM

Thank you everyone for all your help with my shin splints. Took 2 weeks off running and did spinning & swimming instead together with the exercises you recommended & am much better! Started my group training with a tri coach on monday which began with a light 3.3mile run! Now I have someone to help me with my cycling so am very excited for wednesday.

Well done to all you athletes who raced! You inspire me! Can't wait to post after mine!

ROLL CALL FOR IM 70.3 Texas and sprint triathlon this weekend in Galveston!!!

I am going to try and make dinner reservations at Mario's @ 6pm for Friday night.

I'm in and ready to race! What a difference a year makes. Last year (my first time at this distance) I was a bucket of nerves the week of the race. This year I'm ready to get there and be around all the great energy.

Leaving after work Friday and hoping to make it in time before packet pickup ends at 7:00. Going to support a co-worker in the sprint on Saturday and then have an early dinner on the mainland.

Wishing everyone a great race and a great weekend!

message me for my cell number if anyone going to Galveston wishing to meet up on site. We also have dinner reservations Friday night at 6pm at Mario's Seawall Italian on the Seawall BLVD if anyone is wishing to join. Everything else is still up in the air. But I am for keeping it low key after that and just hanging at the beach house resting up. I will be on site doing some light training Friday around noon with a 20 min swim and 30 min run  or so and early as possible on Saturday with a 15-20 min swim and a 30 min bike.

I see new mentor programs starting up and this one is archived... Ritter, will you start a new one on the new forum? I've enjoyed this group so it would be cool to continue the group. Let us know.

we can still continue in this group if we wanted or you can join a new group. I would be interested in staying with this group simply to start hearing the great race results of everyone after a hard winters training.

I put in a 94km bike ride on Friday, took Saturday off and did a 24km run today. Feeling beat!

Sounds good to me, I like our mix and our leader!

This weekend was a trial run for my training buddies who are doing a tri at the end of the month in St. Pete so we did a swim (I did 600 yds), 35 mile bike and 4 mile run. It was a long day for me thats for sure my legs didn't have any power left at the end but it was a good day and now that its sunday I'm recovered.

I have my half mary coming at the end of the month so it was good to have a training session now that went longer than usual. I'm going to do a couple longer runs the next two weekends probably 1:15 and 1:30 just to get my confidence up for the half mary but I'm thinking 8 min. pace is within reach and maybe a little bit faster so anything around or under 1:45 for my time will be great.

Hope everyone did well in Galveston, we've got a lot of TX natives so I'm sure several from our group were there.

I agree, I like our group.

After a week off (I pretty much did nothing in Hawaii except shop and drink - it was great!!) I did a short run today with a friend.  My first time trail running, it was pretty fun.  It was a slow run since I waited for my friend a lot.  I need to figure out what and when my next race is.

Still dealing with very limited Internet access...fortunately I did have a chance to compile my race report from Galveston, so if anyone is interested in the mundane details, here's the link. Smile

Hey I hope everyone had a good race in Galveston. I didn't log into BT until today, but I was updating sometimes on my gf's cell phone and logging in occasionally to read my fb messages/comments. I was winning my age group coming off the bike, but off the sea wall the roads are rough coming back in and I hit a bump really good and it broke a bolt on my extenders, I almost wrecked there and had to hold the bullhorns the rest of the way in, then trying to dismount my shoe maybe hit the ground popping my bike up and it got caught underneath me or something,a nd I took a nice little dive into transition. I ran the 13.1 miles, but my feet was starting to hurt and I was having stomach issues. I got 5th in my age group with a 4:29.43, should have been 15 minutes faster but maybe next time.

Oh yeah, I am not starting a new mentor group. I am too busy and wish I had more time to put more effort into this one, but I will keep this one going as long as I can. Especially since some of you say you like it so let me know if you any questions, I'll be glad to help.

Sounds like your fitness is there and you just need a day when it all comes together. That's just the nature of racing, you never know when the day will be when it all comes together but be ready when it does! GL in vegas maybe that will be your time to rise to the top.
