Just be careful adding miles, don't get carried away with all the excitement.  Maybe keep doing some leg strengthening exercises to make sure your knees and everything else stays perfect!

Good luck!

My goals for 2011:

Complete my first sprint Tri (around May)
Start building up to, and possibly participating in, my first Olympic Tri. We will see how my first ever triathlon goes first.
Complete a half-marathon.

Break 3:00 for an Oly. In my mind, I've always distinguished that time as the separation point between true competitive age groupers in my age group (50-54), and those that are still trying to get there (NO ONE is doing this "as a hobby" -- we are all trying hard to succeed out there, the sport demands too much for it to be anything less than that). Missed breaking it by 17 seconds this year, 2011 is the year to do it.

Where to begin ? I'm competing in my first HM in March . I'd like to break 2 hrs. I also plan to compete in my first Olympic and Half Iron . My goal is to not embarrass myself . I will call next season a success if I can become a proficient and confident swimmer . That's what I should have asked Santa for !

I had various specific goals for 2011. But right now I'll be happy to just have healthy knees that will allow me to bike and run normally again.

If I get past that point, then I'll start to worry about some of the following

-- Respectably completing my first Oly in May and an HIM in August
-- Giving my kid brother a run for his money in the Bristol (UK) HM in Sept., possibly beating my HM PR (from 1983, aged 15!)
-- Being competitive in Duathlon Nats
-- Continuing to make progress in the pool

I'm working a lot of getting faster...I have the endurance but I've plateau'd in the speed category.  I want every race to be a little tiny bit faster than the last one!

Walt Disney World 1/2 Marathon (under 1:45)

National Marathon (under 3:40)

Philadelphia Rock'n'Roll 1/2 Marathon (under 1:35)

Marine Corps Marathon (under 3:30)

Seagull Century (have fun at my alma mater)

My goal for 2011 is to complete the Polar Circle marathon. It scares me to run 26.2 miles on glacier and snow, but the view looks amazing. I suppose it never hurts to try. I am also torn between Racine 70.3 or Steelhead 70.3. I did Stealhead last year and loved it. I plan on paying a lot for the Polar Circle trip so it looks like just the 2 races for me this year. Good luck everyone!
