Subject: Weigh in Wednesday
Living in the northeast, my tri season is about five month away I'm about 30 pounds from where I'd like to be. Unfortunately I've tacked on about 15 pounds since the end of the last tri season. It is easier to slip up when I'm not making myself accountable for my weight gain/loss/maintenance. I've been avoiding the scale lately and when I have stepped on it, it is depressing to see how easily I'm gaining the weight this fall.

So in an attempt to make myself accountable, I'll be posting my weight every Wednesday. Knowing that I have to be put the number out there for everyone to see might be the kick in the pants I need to get to my goal weight.

If anyone wants to join me, feel free.

Good luck to everyone in the new year coming up and I appreciate the chance to use this forum as a motivation tool.

Im in. I could use the motivation as well. I am about 20-25 pounds heavier than I would like to be by mid April. I figure I should have no problem dropping that weight by then. Any tools or tips you are using that could help?

I'm in.  I'm about 10 lbs away from where I'd like to be, or I was before last weekend.

I like following an "abs diet" routine. It doesn't limit good carbs and doesn't have you counting calories. I'd focus a little more on swim/bike/run too. The weight loss is slower but safer. Starting now, I should be at a good weight come May. I'll check back in Wednesday.

So, I may not have access to the scale tomorrow due to work so I weighed in today. Hopefully, I'll see a lower number next week.

A week ago I was at 169 lb, about 19 lb from where I want to be for IMCdA.  This morning I am at 176.  Seriously!  7 pounds in one week!  Stupid holiday crap treats...

178.5  Not horrible.  I was hoping to be at 175 before 1/1, but that looks a bit unrealistic at this point.

173 this morning, which is not to bad since it's the same as my pre-holiday number.  Maintaining though it all is pretty good I think! I'm shooting for about 2-ish lbs/week from here on out.

can I join?  I want to lose around 20-30 lbs by race season (in Canada that gives me about 6 months.) Should be doable if I can make the commitment to eating cleaner.

This morning - 193.

Everyone is welcome to join in. The more participants, the better. It will make everyone more accountable. Sometimes, we just need a little extra push.

Good luck to everyone this week.

AWFUL. I kind of let go over the holidays it looks like. Before the holidays I was sitting at 231, as of my weigh in yesterday I am at 240. My goal is to lose 20-25 by May 1st. I think that should be obtainable. Whats crazy is I have increased my workouts and GAINED weight. ugh. Looks like I need to be watching every bite I eat. I am using the "lose it" app for the iphone. hope it helps.

Clearly losing weight is due to buringing more calories than intake, but how has that affected others workouts here? I am currently on a program to increase from sprint tris to OLY and feel like I need to energy to do so. Any advice?

Tough question. I think as you continue to stress your body with increases in intensity, duration, and frequncies of your workout, you hope that your body will adapt energy wise; just try to make it a gradual change. You want to make sure you eat well and enough to compensate for the additional energy expendature. Losing weight shouldn't come at much more than 2 pounds per week. If you severly cut your calorie, you energy will likely drop. Everyone's body is different and you have to find what works for you. Make it happen.

I guess I'm the first to post this week.  192.2 so down 0.8 pounds.  not too bad considering I still had a family get together on Sunday.

I have the flu right now, and missed yesterday and today at work.  ugh.

Training for 2nd year and would like to lose 20 lbs. Weigh in at 212.  Feeling I have a long way to go and not easy to lose at my age 57.

Weighed in at 221.6. Up a pound from last week but optimistic for next week.

I almost didn't want to weigh in b/c I was afraid I'd be gaining this week. New years, football weekend, and birthday parties didn't help.

169! That's down 2lbs and under 170! It was awesome to step on the scale and no longer see the number start with "17".  I'm a little concerned about next week cause I'm going to Hawaii with family and that could be bad for the diet. I'm going to get as much swimming in as possible and pack my running shoes as well. Hopefully I'll gain a tan and loose some lbs!
