Subject: Just registered for my first half marathon
My wife and I are now registered for the Glass City half marathon in Toledo, OH on 4/17/2011.

This will be our first HM, I did a HIM this past summer and that was the first time i had ever ran 13.1 miles. It was a very slow 2hr 30min. I'm hoping I can cut a substantial amount of time off since i won't be swimming or biking before hand.

I ran Glass City last year as my first half marathon. It is a pretty flat course through neighborhoods, a park, and the UT campus. The aid stations were a bit far apart for me but I was having a hard time judging hydration needs because it was very cold and foggy. When I run it again I will certainly bring some gels and/or a bottle to have a bit more control over fueling.

I was planning on running with some gels. I have a hand held waterbottle from fuel belt that i used on my HIM, if it is warm out i might bring it but i would rather not.

Very cool! Congratulations! I wanted my first HM to be as part of my first HIM, but things didn't work out that way. So, my first HM was the Columbus back in October. I couldn't believe how much fun it was.

It was nice to not have to worry about transitions, the right equipment for the next segment, etc. I'll take a tri over a run race any day, but it was certainly a nice, freeing change of pace.
