Subject: Bruised Ribs
Being stupid and horsing around with my older boys this past weekend, I fell against a metal platform and bruised my ribs on the left side of my back. Any ideas on a rough estimate of recovery time? I realize that everyone is different but I'm looking for a general idea of how long I can expect to be out of commission.Thanks.

Sorry that happened. I fractured 2 ribs a couple of months ago, there was also a lot of bruising in the area. The doctor told me that bruised/cracked/broken ribs all hurt about the same to start out with. I was only out for a week or so until i could breath again without pain. It did take a good month-6 weeks before I could do all my activities without any discomfort. Swimming was the hardest for some reason.

Here's a link to the injury thread I started, some other chimed in with helpful advice:

I had a pretty severe go-kart accident in mid-October that really bruised my ribs... I am finally back to doing ab work (along with cardio) with minimal tenderness.

Just give it time.
