I'm experiencing soreness over my tailbone that I'm not familiar with. My running has been moderate not only in distance  but pace. I've restarted a yoga program that previously had not caused any trouble so I don't think that's the issue. I typically stretch 15-30 minutes 5-6 times a week in the evening. My work leaves me sitting quite a while so that contributes surely.  Could my running be ramped up too quickly? Or does biking on a trainer cause stress that road riding doesn't? What causes this type of soreness? thanks

I'm not a doctor, I don't play one on TV and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I did have  Pilonidal Cyst once.  A real pain in the backside Frown

Ya know, this job is only a month old and the sorenss just started. Reading about the cyst and how the onset can be associated with hours of sitting... I think I'll try standing! Thanks "Doc"! Anyone else have a possible answer?

I am having a similar problem and I've been attributing it to my office chair.  I bought a cheap exercise ball ($10) at Target and sit on that part of the day and that seems to help.

Also, my friend (the yogi master) told me that people who walk with their toes pointing out often have tailbone pain, so I'm also trying to walk with my toes pointing forward more.

I had today off so was busy moving around and working out. Any sitting done has been with a pillow to reduce the pressure. My soreness is less than yesterday! I am somewhat "toed out" but it's never been a problem.

My first guess was Pilonidal Cyst as well. Had one in college and it started off with just a tender tail bone, and then a lump. The rest was awful!

I am dealing with the same thing now, I am going to the doc friday.  I am really hoping it's not a pilonidal cyst.

The internet is a great resource but it has the tendency to turn you into a hypochondriac.  You see a funny spot on your arm, look it up online and you see 15 fatal diseases associated with the darn thing an it ends up being a pimple lol.

But I talked to my dad and he had one back in the 70's so there is more of a chance I have one I guess.  Then I mentioned it to my buddy and he had one too!  I mean the stats say it happens to 26 out of 100,000 people.....
