on the bike I definitely try to go after and pass.  On the run I am holding on for dear life.  I get passed a lot on the run.

smilford - 2010-12-30 6:43 AMI never really pay attention to calves. I just want to beat everyone.
x2, it's more of a total body count.

X4 . I'm out there going as hard as I can. Seeing someone else in my age group will not, can not make me go any harder.

x5 - I race the field not my AG.

Shane

X6. I'm checking out everyone's calves right now, let alone race day.

I may be looking at calves, but I don't pay attention to the numbers on them...

Bryan, we need to race one day, but not at an IM and not right now. Actually, I don't want to race anyone right now. I'm still fat and retired as of right now. I may of forgotten how to swim too.

This season I'm going to start watching out for the Hearts on the ladies calf's... that is if CoJ can get the idea to distinguish single racers

I only look at Calfs....AG is all that matters to me.

When there comes a point where I'm fast enough to win overalls, and that's the goal, I'll stop looking at AG markings.

I only go fast enough to win. That's always the goal.

Did I miss something

I guess maybe I havn't done enough races but how do you tell what age group someone is in by there race number.

Maybe the races I've done just arent doing it right.

Like last race I was doing my best to stay ahead of a guy i though was in my age group because my number was 534 or something like that, and his 535, turned out he was in the age group below me.

So are they just doing numbering wrong at the few races I've been too?

Some, but by no means all, races mark your age on one calf.

Absolutely, I look at ages on calves...picked off a couple guys in my AG on the run at my last sprint and got a podium spot out of it.  (Actually, it wasn't very near the finish and I would have passed them even if I hadn't seen their ages, but still it's sorta nice to know that the effort is earning results.)

Calf marking is great...in running races, I have to look for the grey hair and wrinkles...

I start looking during the bike ride.  I am so pitifully slow in the swim, I look forward to finally catching up to my AGers on the bike.
