Once or twice, I've biked as low as 20F, but spend most of the winter on the trainer rather than "surprise" motorists by being out on the roads in frigid weather.  I've run in temps as cold as -4F (-20C) and done double-digit runs in single-digit temps.

28 wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

I've run down to -25C with a windchill in the -30's somewhere) and will ride to -20C.  I prefer to be outside so unless I have to, I skip the trainer/treadmill.

I ran 8 miles new year's eve at 4pm...it was in the mid teens but mostly sunny...got back just before dark...as others have said dressing appropriate is the key...I REALLY hate the TM and Trainer...I'll also bike in the teens but only on the trails...you can leave a layer off for the uphill and be comfortable and then put it back on the trip down...hands and feet are the key to staying comfortable.....Tom (HAPPY NEW YEAR)

-30 degree (wind chill) today....it's not bad once you get going! Carrying water on long runs becomes next to impossible though...in these temps I do smaller loops and pit stop at home to hydrate and chip icicles off the face mask! Layered clothing is key.

I have a treadmill but I believe that you must still hit the pavement (even if it's frozen!) to keep your muscles in good form.

i've ran in some cold temps, maybe low 30s.

today, I did a 25mile bike in the coldest temp for me - 20* or so with a slight breeze. I was dressed ok for it - toes were cold by the end of the ride and some knee or leg warmers under my tights would have been nice.

I have a treadmill and trainer (rollers and cycleops) for doing work indoors this time of year - which is my usual workout during the week.   I've run outside in 11 degrees, but I avoid road riding below 32 degrees due to ice hazzards (when that is a potential).  If below freezing, mountain bike and trails is my preference.

Biggest issue during the winter is the sun - I don't like being out after dark due to the werewolfs and bad drivers.  Since I do most of my training in the AM before work (4am) and afterwork (5-6 pm), the trainers aure used more at this time of year.

Almost any temperature is acceptable with the right clothing.

I'll happily run or cycle down to about -10C / 14F as long as it is dry and clear. However if the ground is wet then I am very wary of cycling as only have a road and tri bike. Running is fine in snow and slush as long as there's grip otherwise it's just not worth the risk to me.

Personally I think the temperature isn't the limiting factor but the humidity and precipitation.

Here in Vegas we're lucky in that we have no snow, almost no rain, it's dry, and the only thing we have to worry about is wind, but road condition are fine 99% of the time.  It's just the cold to contend with.

Really depends on wind which seems to be a constant factor here.  I will bike to work up to -10 C but that's a whole 5k each way.  I considered going out yesterday - it was 7 degrees.

Run it really depends on wind and how icy it is.  I'll run in just about anything but significant windchill does it for me.

It's never to cold if you dress right.

I just got back from an hour long ride. It was -6C with a wind chill of -12 and a steady 20km/h wind. I kinda think it's fun to ride in the cold cause I try to guess how long it takes my water bottle to turn to slush

The lowest temperature I have run in was 19 degrees with 6 inches of snow. This was due to an upcoming 1/2 marathon.

Yesterday (1/1) was a 6 mile run in 25 degree weather (sunny). Today 30 degree run

Have not tried the bike outside due to ice / snow on the ground

2+ hour ride ?today in -9C, with 25kmph winds making it around -15 to -20C.  Only needed a base layer + jersey, but I could have used a face mask for this one, and the toes were getting a bit cold on the way home since the exertion level dropped off and I wasn't getting as my?u?c?h circulation to the feet.  I'll run down to -25C - and running in fresh snow is pretty cool.

I'll run in just about anything, but I wait until the mercury makes it's way over 60 before I go out on my bike....maybe 55.  Seriously.  Any colder than that and I head to the gym for spin class.

I think the coldest bike was 22F and the coldest run has been 9F. Seems pretty warm compared to what some of you on here have experienced.

I just had an 8 km run this morning.  Temperature was -30 C(-22F).  I loved every minute.  As long as you dress for it.

Yikes, I ran this morning with a -3F windchill and it wasn't too bad...but I think I would draw the line at -22F.

I'll run in weather as cold as about -25c (-13f).  Colder then that and I'm hitting the track.  Below -20c (-4f) and I'm seriously considering going inside but don't always.

As long as there is not an ice storm/ice sheet on the ground or lightning, I will run outdoors. I have not yet found "too cold." This includes air temps to the mid 20s below zero and wind chills in the 50+ below zero.

Riding? I am a fair weather rider. I don't midn the trainer, so I'll hop on it without a second thought (in fact, sometimes I ride on it when the weather's perfectly acceptable) Way hot? Ride inside. Way cold? Inside. Moderately cool? Indoors. Rain? Wind? Moon aligned with venus's third house? indoors.

I live in Houston so thankfully this isn't much of an issue for me.  I will go as low as 35 but only if I know it is going to get warmer rather than cooler when I am out there.

On the other end I will bike/run in the summer as long as it is under 100.

When I was stationed at Ft. Drum, NY we were required to do outside runs down to -30 f.  On a 2 mile PT run test my buddy took off his cap and ended up with frostnip on the tops of his ears by the end of the run.  You'd wear a balaclava and end up with a big chunk of ice on your head and in front of your mouth.

Wow, I really don't miss that place.  Where I am now the temps rarely dip below the 30's, and being that I hate treadmills, I do all my runs outside.  I love a little Oregon mist while running.

As for cycling, I haven't had my bike outside since October and my biking has never been better.  Computrainers are fantastic.

I almost always run outside. The only weather that would make me not would be hail, or lightning. Or something extreme, like a hurricane. We don't get many of those here, though.

Temps.... I have been out in single digits, no issues.

I just got in from a 23 (F) bike ride. I wanted to try out the aero bars on the road. The only bad part were my fingers. The gloves I thought would be good...weren't. I only rode 6 miles because of cold hands. When I got inside they hurt. So I put the bike on the trainer to ride the rest of the 60 minutes I had planned for today.
I had on headband ear warmer
1 SS tech
2 LS tech
tri shorts
thin running tights
wool socks
neoprene toe covers
and my failed gloves from performance bike my wife got me for CHRISTmas
