Chatham Ontario | Subject: RE: Team Skinny...Fresh Start Jan. 2011 Back in again, Thanks Starting Weight UGHHH 219 lbs. Go figure with holidays So here is how I have it layed out Starting 219 lbs Jan Goal 214 lbs March 31 199 lbs End of year 185 lbs I am not sure I can get under this or what is really with in my relm of where I should be. But I know I want to be at a good weight under 200 and maintain it. 190 would be nice but I am going to set a goal of 185. According to my BMI I should be 140 lbs but I don't think I would look right at this weight at all. I still have a bit of a stomach but when I was 214 lbs my stomach is already undercutting my Ribs. I think anything below 185 will actually start to look BAD on me. I think BMI sucks. my 2 cents Good luck to everyone in the new YEAR. We can all reach our goals if we put our head down, Work hard, avoid temptation most of the time (sometimes you have to give in) and work together. 185 lbs would put me at 94 lbs lost. My wife has joined in and offered to buy me a tri bike when I hit 240 and maintain it for a month. Going to be reach for me, but I think I can do it by the end of the year. |

But mid may is when my season starts and september is my A race. |

Veteran 139 Columbus, OH | Subject: RE: Team Skinny...Fresh Start Jan. 2011 I was wondering when this thread would pop up! I was fortunate enough to maintain for the last 3+ months without gaining a pound, so I'm pretty pumped about that...even through the holiday's...yeah me! Starting weight: 192 Goal: 154 (38 to go!) Interim: Would love to reach 164 by April 19th (roughly 15 weeks at 1.9 lbs/wk) then work the last 10 pounds over the rest of the year. I'm entering the harder phase of this weight loss journey but I started my P90X Lean so I could incorporate more cardio to accommodate my hockey, running, spinning, soccer and swimming into the mix. Good luck everyone! 2011 is going to rock!!! |

I've got my community Biggest Loser competition starting up on Thursday and found a 28 day boot camp program that I will be following also. |

Veteran 162 Austin | Subject: RE: Team Skinny...Fresh Start Jan. 2011 I'm In. At the gym yesterday in clothes the scale read an all time high of 208! That was about 8 lbs more than I expected. This morning out of the shower on my scale where I usually weigh I was 200 even so that's where I'll start. Starting weight: 200 Goal weight: 175 Mid May goal: 185 I know I'll get crucified on this site but I'm going with a vegetable-heavy low-carb approach. Someone tell me this is a terrible idea and why. Its the only thing I've found to be really effective. I'm not training super long durations or anything. If my run gets up into the 4-5 mi range, I'll add back some morning good carbs. See many of you at 175 and good luck to all! |

Chatham Ontario | Subject: RE: Team Skinny...Fresh Start Jan. 2011 Hey Glad to see everyone on board and ready to go. Paul, I eat a lot of veggies, I eat a lot of lean protien when I can and most of my carbs I do eat are coming from complex sources, Whole wheat, veggies, beans etc. These are complex and higher in fiber which offests the carbs some. I find I can use these no problem. But I do tend to eat 20-30% carbs now. I was closer to 20% when I started this journey, and I am heading back to that for the winter months now. I am not on a LOW CARB diet, but I do eat less carbs then recommended for my weight. I am also a non-insulin diabetic, who now also no longer takes METFORMIN (oral medication) for sugar since I came down from my all time high of 279 lbs. I am now recording all my food on BT as well. I am busy so I don't record most of my veggies as they never really add up to much and I just don't have the time. I see nothing wrong with it, if your using good lean protiens to fuel yourself, recovery and building of muscles etc. I tried to do more of a veggitarian no-low fat diet that is when I went from 260 up to 279 low fat didn't work and I now realize my DR. doesn't really know $HIT about weight loss. If my run gets up into the 4-5 mi range, I'll add back some morning good carbs. See many of you at 175 and good luck to all! I'm not going to say the diet is the wrong thing to do. I just take a different approach to the whole thing. To me there isn't much of a point to doing a 'diet' for the short term and then going to something else for the rest of your life. Eating right should be for the long term, so you can stick with your same program for your life. With that said, if you want to do low carb for your whole life, that seems pretty boring, but your choice. If you are doing it temporarily, what will you do when you go off the low carb? That is when most people gain their weight back (slowly over the following months). If you do the low carb, just monitor your energy levels. If you are lethargic and not wanting to get out of bed or off the couch, it could be a big sign that your body wants more fuel. I would listen to it if that happens. Good luck to you! |

Veteran 162 Austin | Subject: RE: Team Skinny...Fresh Start Jan. 2011 Thanks for the low carb responses. I did it two years ago and lost 30 lbs pretty quickly. Very true that it slowly comes back with a dedicated combination of beer, eating whatever you want and doing very little. I finished an OLY (my goal) and took that as a license to do whatever. It took two years but I'm back at an all time high. Funny thing is my body actually feels better when I cut out the breads, pastas, rices, sugarry crap etc. Less digestion problems, heartburn etc. I also have better more sustained energy. What I realize is that you cant just go one extreme to another and expect anything more. This goround, I hope to kickstart the weightloss with an Adkins-like period, then get more reasonable as I beef up the exrecise and add back in a REASONABLE amount of comfort foods. I can eat like 3 giant plates of pasta if I'm not paying attention. And no, I dont work out nearly enough to justify even 2 I'll keep you posted. Thanks again! |

Will weigh in on Wed for sure. Keep up the good work everyone, Mike |

Regular 103 Alameda, CA | Subject: RE: Team Skinny...Fresh Start Jan. 2011 Sorry everyone, didn't realize weigh-ins are on Wednesdays I weighed in this morning and came in at 241. A loss of 4lbs. I'm not too concerned about the large amount. It probably is just some water retention from the previous weigh-in. My eating has been really good and I am currently training for a HIM, which is also going well. So I imagine if I stay with the same structure I should see continued weight loss. I promised myself that as a reward when I got down to 235lbs, I would get a nice scale that generically does bf%, etc... I used to track bf% by calipers, but that is a pain in the butt, so as long as the scale is consistent, I'll be happy. Hopefully by beginning of February I'll hit that 235 mark. Good luck and good work everyone! Smell that bacon coming off! |

My one buddy works at Omron on the automotive side supplying automation components he did some research for me including other brands and for the money and the value and accuracy this one did seem to pan out the best. They were like $300 not long ago. I held off myself but seeing they are really down in price I think I might pull the trigger soon too.. IF you do as well let me know how it works for you.. http://www.healthgoods.com/Omron_Body_Fat_Scale_HBF_510_p/on-hbf510w.htm |
