This is Leo in our recent snowstorm at the beginning of December.  He LOVES the snow.  He's about 6 1/2 yrs and likes to go for slow runs, particularly in the cooler weather...did I mention he loves the snow?

JG_GreenCoast - 2011-01-04 11:13 PM Wow what a beautiful Harlequin dane! Stunning dog! The best part is how sweet and gentle they are

He is a very intelligent, gentle giant.....but very protective of his family!  When my husband leaves town, I always feel safe with Luca around.

We have a 6 month old Gread Dane pup, and he is one of the best dogs I've ever had, and I've had dogs my entire life. He really is MY dog. Wherever I am is where he wants to be. He is great with my kids, and all the other kids that are in and out of my house. We take him out all the time to socialize him around people, but I have no doubt he would be protective of the family if need be. I am hoping he can eventually be a reading therapy dog. My daughter will use him as a pillow and lay there and read to him, so he's getting plenty of practice now.

How much does your guy weigh? At 6 months mine was 105.7 lbs and the vet tech said he was on the lean side.
He is 155lbs and would ideally be about 160-165 hard to keep weight on him.....wish I had that problem :-). Post a pic if you can, I'd love to see him!

Great looking dogs everyone. Here is Mochi, I got her for my wife a few years ago. She is a Shiba.

She isn't a very good running partner, whenever she feels like stopping she just jumps on her back and plays dead. I get a lot of laughs from people nearby from dragging a dog a few yards when I don't realize she jumped on her back. She is only 15 lbs.

I love all the doggies!

This is my baby girl Americus...we met when I was volunteering for an organization that trains service dogs.  She was in the program but they had to drop her because she's too stupid - Lucky Me!

neweyes - 2011-01-05 6:38 PM Tayjay, that sucks. I can hardly imagine how hard that would be.

Sorry for your loss.  I went through soemthing very similar about a year ago.  Before I got my guy on the right I had another dog--all white kuvasz mix named Finn.  Got away from me and hit by a car and killed instantly too.  I replay it in my head every day and it will never go away.  I'll never stop feeling guilty but at least take comfort in the fact that they went out on top and you gave them a life they would have never had.  I'm sure he loved you to death.

bhc, I want to kiss your dog right between the eyes.  SO cute.  I love older dogs the best.  They have such a sweet, loving, knowing look about them.

My springer Diesel. He's almost 2 now, and I don't have him quite trained to run with me at a perfect heel, but he's trained to respond to whistle commands, so he runs off leash with me along the nature trails around our house.

neweyes - 2011-01-05 5:58 AM My two best training partners. Dipity is on the left. He was found in the woods as a pup. I think his long-lost sister Seren may have shown up earlier in this thread.....

dip and anne

This pup looks very much like my other dog named Bama.  She is Shepherd / Rotty mix and is extremely smart.  She also loves the water so I think she may have some lab in her.  The only thing different about Bama is that one of her ears is always up and the other is down.  It's pretty cute.

She looks serious in this picture so it's not a good reflection of her personality.
