I can't race, but I'll be at a run water stop. Feel free to stop by the BATC tent too - I was sponsored this year and will have some freebies to hand out.

I went by the tent to say hi, but I guess you were still out on the course. I'll have to catch you at South Carroll.

Fred Doucette - 2011-05-21 4:32 PM Racks the bike, net up with docswim and am now relaxing at the hotel. Chinese food then sleep, then race time. Good luck everyone!

Wow - awesome performance, Fred! 5th in AG and you had a killer bike leg. Whatever was in that Chinese food, it seemed to do the trick.

Yeah, I ended up being a run course marshall a couple miles from the start so I wasn't able to actually get over there to the BATC tent or to see BT peeps, I was pretty disappointed about that. South Carroll will be easier to see people (assuming I'm able to race).

thanks, how did your race go?

I was really pleased. It was my first real tri, so I nailed my PR. I beat my stretch targets for swim and bike, and the run was as good as I should have expected given the brutal course.

I have a lot to learn, but I was so much better off today thanks to all that I've learned from folks on BT.

Good job!.  I had a great swim and a felt good on the bike but that first hill on the run crushed me.  My quads locked up on the first hill back in the neighborhood and it was all over after that.

I finally broke 2:40. PR'd all three...actually all five. Although I did almost crash attempting a flying dismount when my left leg wentt o jello after swinging my right leg over the bike. Dropped nine minutes from last year so I'm very happy. 2:37:01 (man, I couldn't find 2 seconds somewhere???).

I'll be at Eagleman...if I finish, guaranteed PR! Oh yeah, first 70.3

Great job everyone.

Thanks!

I do have a couple minor complaints about this years race. One, ZERO mile markers on the run course. I was at 8:30 on my watch for the first mile on the run and thought I was in huge trouble (the main problem with always training with a Garmin). And the second is that there were very few volunteers on the run course. I had trouble getting water a couple times. They had people working both sides of the street in the neighborhood. I went by fairly early so I hope they got some more out there as the day went on.
