Nevermind.......

Mapquested it. Its a long stinkin way.

My mother in law lives up there and we usually go see her for a week or two in the summer. She lives about 3 blocks from Lake Erie. I get to do some beautiful riding and running up there!

rgattis - 2011-04-08 11:52 AM I have a long ride planned for Saturday. Ill try to get it in after that. Random question for ya Johnny....How far is Media from Erie?

Media is a Philadelphia suburb.  Erie is a Buffalo suburb.

Enjoy the long ride.  I am hoping to (finally) get outside on my bike at least one day this weekend.

John, thanks for all the help you have been so far and thanks to JimmyB and Anthony for their encouragement!
I am interested in your new group w/ Fred, has it been formed yet and if so, what name?
thanks

The group has not gone 'live' yet, but should soon--under mine & Fred's name, jointly.  Here is the link for the thread.

Fred AND John running one mentor group?! That is an awful lot of training knowledge right there! I am definitely interested if you guys don't get too full.

I should be able to get out for a good ride on Sunday. I really need to push myself hard in my longer rides.

Hi all,
finally made it outside for a ride today, after a long, cold Michigan winter. Great to be outside, but struggled w/ the wind and my endurance. Riding the trainer all winter is not like riding outside, even though I see lots of people train most of the time on a trainer. Lesson learned: I am woefully undertrained on the bike. Time to increase time/frequency/intensity on the trainer.
Hope some of you got to get outside this weekend.

Glad you made it out!  I ended up riding the trainer on Sat (as planned, though it was certainly nice enough to ride outside had I been able to go later).  But my sister was visiting this weekend and going for a long run (she's running Boston next week) on Sunday.  So I decided to join her for 12 miles instead of riding alone for 40.  A worthwhile trade, for sure, but that means at least one more week until I get outside on the bike.

Did also get out for a nice hike in the woods with my wife & son on Sunday afternoon.  No complaints about that, either.

I was able to get out on Sunday for a nice ride. I'm not in the shape I would like to be, but I still did a little better than I thought I would. Definitely a much different feel when you are riding outside, especially when it's windy.

Pretty cool that your sister is doing Boston, John. Is this her first time? Best of luck to her!

On a very personal note, my oldest son got great news today. He graduated fro Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering in February, and today he got a job offer from Electric Boat, which is the Submarine division of General Dynamics. Big day for him!
