This race was held in October last year and sold out!  It is a flat 1/2 mary so if you want a PR this may be it.  It goes along the East Lake Sammamish Trail.  I think I'm signing up, this year they are holding it in March due to some fall construction conflict....so who else is in for March 26?  Since it's my home territory, I might offer to have some sort of brunch afterward if you are nice to me!

I am bumping this up to the top.....let's find out who is going to be running or volunteering at this event!  Rain is in the forecast, but oh well, this is the northwest....it will be fun anyway.

I'll be at packet pickup on Friday lending a hand, and running on Saturday, hoping for a PR.

If you haven't signed up, I can help get you a $5 discount, just send me a PM!

Give a shout out if you'll be there.....

Here is my unofficial results from the Lake Samammish 1/2 Marathon race. New PR for me today.

Unofficial results:

Finished the race in 1:41:10

Averaged 7:44 per mile

Placed 13th in my age group

Placed 61st overall out of 350 people

Very happy with the results. My goal was to finish at 1:40. Took 8 minutes off from my last race

Leslie and everyone else that raced today, hope your race went as well.

Great race, Eric!  Sorry we didn't meet....lots of people, 412 finishers to be exact.  What a fantastic race, perfect weather and a flat course....I had an 8-minute PR myself.  What a great day....

Avg HR: 172

PR! What a great run....I took off and was thinking that maybe I was going too fast...but had spent time perusing some websites last night talking about race pace to hit certain goals and I knew that I had to average between 8:17-8:24 to hit my PR....which as you can see, I did. Every mile, I kept asking myself "can I sustain this pace?" and the answer was usually yes..there were a couple slower miles towards the end, but I had built up a cushion and ended up smashing my prior PR by around 8 minutes! Granted, this is a totally flat race on my home course, where I run all the time....but I felt great, the weather was good, nothing hurt, etc etc. All in all, I loved it! Many of my friends also had great runs so there was a lot of smiling afterwards. Even the family managed to come and see me finish. Yay!!! Now I can relax this year, and run for fun....although there is another 1/2 coming up at the end of April....not sure I'll aim for PR at that one!

Well done Leslie!

I noticed your HR, that's normal for you? My wife's is up there, she slows to keep it below 170 thinking her's was too high. Maybe she's fine?

Leslie,

Great job on the race. Glad to see someone else PR on that course. Sorry we didn't get to meet, but from looks of your time you were right after me. Are you going to try for the Seattle race next fall?

What did you think of the pizza after the race if you had any?

It sounded good until I tried a piece and it was just too spicy for me and just about made me loose it. Stuck with the water and pretzels.

Take care any see you the next time. Glad we got to share the same gravel today

Yeah, my HR was high for a "normal" run...but it was a race, so I think it was fine....I am ok now!  I did have a weird moment where you turn off the gravel trail and then onto pavement, and then across a bridge through wetlands.  The bridge is a bright white cement and it has freaked my eyes out in the past.  Today it sort of gave me a weird panic attack.  Not sure what that was about!  I was glad to be off of it!

I did take some pizza but also tossed it after a few bites (feeling guilty cuz it was very good!) but it wasn't going to sit right.  I had a bagel, fruit, and coffee, after water.

There will be more races.  Next up is Vancouver (BC) Half Marathon on May 1.  Then focus on the bike for a while, RAMROD is looming large!

My RR is done if you haven't heard enough here!  LOL  http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=246079&posts=2#M3415767

Price seemed steep to me compared to other running events.  The Seattle Marathon was about the same cost and they require a lot more support, road closures, etc.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't early registration for this race $50 (+$10 if you took the shuttle)?  And isn't Seattle $95 for early registration?

I don't think this is bad @ ALL considering you get a tech shirt, a cool finisher's medal, timing mats, and some pretty dang good food afterwards!

I second that....plus....no expo to attend, no crazy parking/shuttle/drop off issues....and a ton of fun with the locals!  And bald eagles!  And scenery.

Plus, volunteer for Evergreen Trail Runs and they let you run for free in another race....I doubt RnR would do that!
