Tick-tick, it's getting close now. Starting to worry a bit, but all in all I am feeling strong!

Wow... what an awesome day.. even with my flat tire just prior to the Barcelo Road Bike Aid Station... Solid swim, nutrition plan worked well, Richter and the Rollers weren't nearly as bad as I'd expected... and the run went well too.. More details to follow.. but there is definitely a rematch set for next year

I have yet to ride richter and the rollers, but SOON!

I've heard they can be rough, and I'm not exactly light, OR good at hills yet :p

Quigley..

I was daunted by Richter & the Rollers.. after hearing about it from all my friends that have done Desert and IMC..

They weren't as bad as they'd been made out to be.. at least as part of the Desert course.. even if you do ride them from both sides.. They look worse in a vehicle than they do on the bike..

Where do you normally train? If you can ride Cypress (14-15km .. 7%ish climb)... then Richter won't seem so bad..

Cypress takes me just over an hour do climb... Richter (from transition at the Lake to Aid station at the top) was about 12-13k.. and took me just under 50 minutes

I'm fairly petite (dainty even.. according to at least one fellow racer)... which helps with the climbs.. but I lose out on the downhills.. I can pedal like crazy going downhill and still not gain much speed.. Got to love being passed by those that are coasting :P

I haven't done nearly as much hillwork as I've wanted to, Most of the good hillwork I've done is climbing in and out of Vernon from the south, first couple of times were a nightmare, but it's gotten easier.  Next best was some of the hills going from Kelowna to Oliver, made it back to penticton after that.

I'm still fairly young in my training career ( I was out of commission for 6-7 months after only 2 on the bike, and I've been back at it again for 2.5 months )  I've been meaning to get out and do some more of the nasty hillwork soon, and my knee is finally getting strong enough that I think I can start tackling some of the bigger stuff now without worrying about throwing it out :p

I'm still about 200 lbs, put on a few pounds because of the inactivity involved with a busted femur, but I sure can scream downhill :p

Still working on my 'Race Report'... realized there was more to this race than the riding of Richter & the Rollers.. it has been part of a bigger experience in my life.. a substantial phase of personal growth and change.. all for the better

Puddle Duck - 2011-07-17 1:26 PM Still working on my 'Race Report'...

Hurry...I've been checking and have yet to see a race report for the Osoyoos 1/2IM.

btw - I might have scribbled some obscure number on certain body parts to some of those racing that day.

I've finally managed to finish my Race Report.. now to make the finishing edits..

I realize it has been nearly 2 months.. but much of the days events remain quite clear in my mind... I guess my nutrition plan worked

Where would you like me to post it?
